I was about to say the same thing. Only a Trump can bankrupt a casino.
Interesting take. There will be a lot of fed money thrown toward education, health care and economic development. Then there will the untold money that a casino will bring in and associated jobs. Hard for me to understand why that will not help.
Lots of people are bankrupting casinos these days. It was a lot harder in the 80s.

I’m not seeing a lot of well-off RTP residents going to casinos in Robeson County. Or, out-of-state tourists except for rural South Carolinians and some not well-off residents of Columbia. Seriously, why would anyone choose to vacation in Robeson County? Lots of casinos in the country.
I’m expecting a lot of wasted “NBA/MLB/NFL/lottery sudden wealth” money wasted and embezzled. I’m expecting lots of locals manipulated by grifters.

Casinos have so much competition now. It isnt even a slam dunk that the Lumbees would open one anymore. Honestly, do you know how much crime they would have to deal with in a casino on I95?
The entire I95 corridor is rough but Roanoke Rapids/Rocky Mount/Fayetteville/Lumberton all in a row... There is more cocaine moved along I95 every night from Miami to NYC than there is in Bogata Colombia. Cars absolutely loaded with coke, cash, and guns. Hundreds of them. Every day.
I am from Edgecombe County and when my father wanted to buy a pool hall/bar in Roanoke Rapids people told him he was crazy because the area was so rough. He thought that it couldn't be much different than Tarboro. Boy was he WRONG. That i95 crew is a different breed of the species. You had better come ready for a fight because one will surely find you.

Well the fed money is coming. If you are a good liberal and think money solves all ailments, why not this one? As for casino, it will be a few.feet from the nation's most traveled highway, so I think there will be a lot of stop, stay a night and head on. Hope I live long enough to see the benefits. I am ,68.5

I think it's pretty laughable to believe that liberals believe money solves all ailments. Hell, at this point, liberals are the fiscally conservative bunch by comparison.hurdles.
I do hope the increased funding to the area is used wisely to benefit the people. They deserve better than the area is right now.

Focusing specifically on the casino, it would have to target people traveling I95. Caesars in Danville already has the Richmond market captured. Danville is significantly closer for everyone in the Triangle too.

You might be correct about a casino’s proximity to I-95 and how lucrative it might be. I remember a casino in Alabama between Mobile and Montgomery - tall ass building (17-25 stories) in the middle of nowhere.
The surrounding area in Alabama was still impoverished as hell; but, the casino looked prosperous. Literally, NOTHING around it. I expect a casino in Robeson County might be lucrative for the IMMEDIATE area and damaging 15+ miles out.
