MAGA embraces colonialism/imperialism

This is so utterly disgusting. MAGA Americans are the true enemies, of basically all humanity.
I was rolling my eyes on Sunday listening to Rubio on "Meet the Press" repeatedly answering questions about "running the country" by saying that we would do whatever is in the best interests of the USA and then every once in a while remembering to say "oh, and by the way in the interests of the citizens of Venezuela." Making abundantly clear that the citizens of Venezuela are to be given a say in their own destiny only if their choices happen to directly align with American interests and priorities.

It really just boils down to "might makes right" in the end. We have the military power to invade their country with impunity. They don't have that ability with us. Which means that we get to tell them what to do whenever we so choose. Abandoning 80 years of effective soft power hegemony with us at the top, in favor of a "strongest does what they want" system that is virtually guaranteed to backfire on us.

MILLER: The US is using its military to secure our interests unapologetically in our hemisphere. We're a superpower and under President Trump we are going to conduct ourselves as a superpower. It's absurd that we would allow a nation in our backyard to become the supplier of resources to our adversaries but not to us.

TAPPER: Sovereign countries shouldn't be able to do what they want to do?

He’s not wrong about neocolonialism but coming from Russia it sort of robs the statement of any credibility.
It's not a statement that has "credibility." It's more like, "if you've lost Russia, then you've really fucked up." Russia should be cheering this. The value of the alliance with Venezuela should pale in comparison to the potential value of breaking up NATO.

Remember: Canada is in NATO too. And Trump seems eager to attack someone to our north.
