MAGA/MAHA/TPUSA/Far Right coalition starting to splinter?

Listening to Dan Crenshaw rip the shit out of Tucker on Face the Nation. Maybe you guys could have spoken up earlier???
They’ve had a cult of personality to hold them together. Now the cult leader is doing an early transition to lame duck and the war for control of his cult has begun in earnest while he redecorates bathrooms …

Trumpers have fought amongst themselves and loathed one another since his first term - there were numerous stories in his first term about how many members of Trump's cabinet and aides despised one another, and Congressional Republicans traded insults on Twitter. They're loathsome people, and so it isn't surprising that they also loathe one another. Trump may indeed be a lame duck (or maybe not, we'll see) but I'll take all this Trumplican infighting seriously when it begins to show up at the polls. At election time these people all tend to stick together, and not just for Trump but for Trumper Republicans all down the line. It's the reason why they now solidly control all 3 branches of the government, and most state governments, and they're only tightening their grip on those state governments and gerrymandering the House to preserve their control.

Watching all this high school-level bickering and insults and personal attacks on mostly social media is no doubt fun to see if you're a liberal - and these people richly deserve all the division and misery that can happen to them - but until it actually shows signs of costing them congressional seats or red-and-purple state governors or losing presidential elections it's not going to be much help for the nation as a whole, imo.

If I dared to ask, I wonder what my oldest brother would say about this.

He went from “the Jews have been persecuted throughout history because they rejected Christ” to “any nation that doesn’t defend Israel and God’s chosen people is destined to fail.”

Wonder if he is suffering whiplash again.
The Evangelical contradiction on Israel and Jews in general has always been something to see. They're not Christians so by their reasoning they should go to hell, but they're also god's chosen people so maybe they're not. Israel has to exist so Jesus can return in the Rapture and take all of his Religious Right followers into heaven, but after that happens Israel doesn't really matter anymore, except as the place where Armageddon will take place. The logical contradictions in their beliefs about Jews and Israel is indeed whiplash-inducing.

I grew up Southern Baptist. It was the passage of this resolution in 1996, when I was still fairly young, that made me realize I could never be a part of that craziness.

They just view Jews as a means to an end, like Pubs hate poor people but also use them to get votes by making up imaginary boogeyman that are out to get them.

TRIGGER WARNING — Some of these folks post extremely antisemitic and other extremely vile things, a tiny bit of which I’ve shared below. The shared offensive content is intended as insight into how extreme some of the rhetoric being debated, rejected or accepted really is.

——

I had been posting about this on the Current Events thread but moving to its own thread so folks who just don’t want to see the (sometimes startlingly offensive) back and forth of this internecine battle can just avoid this thread.

It started among right wing influencers after the Kirk assassination, and then overtook the right wing influencer class with the release of the Young Republican chat with a lot of offensive text.

Now it has has spread to the right wing political, think tank and religious classes in the last few weeks, particularly since Tucker Carlson interviewed Nick Fuentes without pushing back off Fuentes’ extreme antisemitism or embrace of Hitler was right rhetoric.

At its heart is a fight about how far right is too far right for the MAGA movement, with a particular focus on whether there should be room in the tent for Groypers and Christian Nationalists …

Background:

Vance wading into the group chat disclosure REALLY opened the floodgates of far, far right (“woke right”?) becoming more brazen in openly demanding their place in MAGA.

They are just so very young and bald.

This is a very, very astute point. And suggests we have much more of this to come. I’m hoping it leads to the implosion of MAGA as a credible political movement, but time will tell.

The idiots forgot the rules of the game. You can dog whistle away as much as you like (i.e. the majority of the 20th century and the first decade of the 21st). But the moment you allow someone who is willing to say the quiet part out loud into your coalition, you've lost. Period.

The simple fact is that THERE IS NO BOTTOM. Listen, your personal opinion might be that the perfect amount of racism is X amount. But it will never hold the line just there. The awful truth is there is ALWAYS someone next in line who's willing to say ""No, 2X is the correct amount" and of course the mouth breathers will jump on that bandwagon. Then there's someone else in line who wants the attention and power, so they say "no, actually it's 4X"... ad infinitum, ad nauseum. You kind of want to assume that there is some base level of human decency that will set a sort of a floor before we get to mass atrocities. History has show zero evidence for that assumption and consistently disproved it at every turn. Once you get the ball rolling, it's a relatively short trip to mass graves.

Always remember...

You've been warned.

I need a play book to understand who all these people are. What’s a Groyper ?
Groypers are a sort of anarchic tag for far, far right Christian Nationalists, white separatists/nationalists, right wing antisemites, Putin and Orban fanboys and neo-Nazis (and anyone to the right of that so long as they are not Muslim or brown/black).

They tend to self-identify with Pepe the Frog and Nazi, Nordic, Joker, Gaelic and LOTR symbolism and memes. Tend to be younger Millennials or Zoomersor whatever is younger than Gen Z. They share a lot of overlap and shared texts with certain types of Incels and mass shooters.

There is also an increasing overlap between Groypers and far right crypto enthusiasts (sometimes labeled $Groypers).

Nick Fuentes is sort of a leader/self-appointed spokesman of the loosely associated tribe. This is why even Trump was pressed to disavow Fuentes after meeting with him at MAL after the election.
