MAGA/MAHA/TPUSA/Far Right coalition starting to splinter?

The republican big tent is a meat grinder of mental illness. Also, in spite of that, they'll forever continue the crusade of fkry because of said mental illnesses.

That's been true for (1) presidential election years (2) when Trump is a presidential candidate. It remains to be seen whether those people can be made to turn out in any election that doesn't fit those two criteria. Maybe they will; maybe they won't. But last week they certainly didn't.

While I do think the GOP has a big Groyper problem I'm also inclined to not really believe Dreher too much on this. Keep in mind that Dreher occupies a weird sort of niche in the right coalition where he has a huge hard-on for Orban and his brand of strongman politics (so much so that he moved to Hungary) but is also very much pro-Jewish and pro-Israel, which must feel like a weird place to be right now when most of the Orban-worshipping people on the right (i.e., Tucker) are drifting hard into antisemitism and Holocaust revisionism.

+1. I frequently get that clear impression from Trumpers who post on message boards. It's all just fun and games and trolling for them, very few of them really seem to be serious about discussing issues or politics. It's mainly just a way to yank liberal's chains and trash talk and indulge in reality show type behavior. I've seen a number of MAGA posters over the years express genuine surprise whenever liberals get angry at what's happening to the country by saying "Gee, you guys need to just calm down. This isn't that serious, it's just politics. As long as my family is OK and we're happy everything is fine. I don't really take all this seriously." And of course look at where we are now, and a growing number of his fans are losing their jobs and struggling to make ends meet and in danger of losing their farms and all sorts of other things. I wonder how many of them still think it's all "fun and games" now? Treating politics as a low-class reality show and trolling opportunity was always a stupid, stupid idea.
