When Kirk was killed righteous conservatives said on social media and elsewhere that they would never forget him and would remember and honor him forever, and there were even some ridiculous claims that he might become a legendary right-wing icon like MLK or RFK, Sr. or Malcolm X or so on have been for liberals. And yet we're about 3 months from his death and conservatives have already largely forgotten about him, except whenever his wife gets in the news for engaging in very public spats and hugging up prominent GOP pols and players like JD Vance. People like MLK and Malcolm X and RFK are still celebrated generations later, I seriously doubt that Kirk will be discussed at all outside being a possible crossword puzzle question.

A lot of variations of slut shaming of Erika Kirk going on that seem to have exploded from her claiming on her big CBS interview to not have dated at all for years while living in New York even though she appeared on some sort of reality dating show for a few episodes. Internet sleuths started tracking down her prior online history that appears to show her very actively dating — which is hardly a crime, BTW. But a lot of Kirk fans are making her out to be a gold digger who maybe even helped get him killed because Candace Owens suggested that and also MAGA brain.

The Heritage Foundation has always been about far right politics - it's always been a laissez-faire, dismantle the welfare state, hard-right think thank that has used dog-whistle style racism to promote a far right neocon agenda for decades. Indeed. Except that most of them - and I'm talking about the MAGA base here and not just the leadership - don't actually practice or live up to those things in private. Most of these macho tough guys are beta male nerds and cowards in private, much of their base and leaders alike are white racists who hypocritically use immigrant labor or even have married darker-skinned immigrants from the "shithole" countries they complain about (JD Vance), and very, very few of the men or women in the movement were virgins when they got married, and in fact most of them have indulged in the "pleasures of the flesh" many times before finally getting hitched. In the world of the Religious Right and MAGA there are the strict moral perfectionistic ideals they preach to everyone else to live up to, and then there is the reality of the private lives.

Curiously, Phillips worked for the major conservative institution, The Daily Wire.

It’s definitely interesting. But I’m not shocked.

MAGA culture is largely misogynistic. Charlie Kirk was a hero because he preached the gospel of “get in the kitchen and make me a sandwich.” That Erika is now being exposed as not living up to that misogynistic ideal—that she dared to have a dating life and likely had sex out of wedlock—is disgusting to Charlie’s incel acolytes.
