The simpler answer is that swing voters are like, Oh yeah, Trump and MAGA are insane. Dems are so preachy and annoying about democracy and weirdo rights and shit that I forgot that.

While I know that this guy is diametrically opposed to most of my beliefs, mischaracterized MAGA (particularly in the section that SnoopRob highlighted) and took some liberties with his other characterizations, I did find that to be a somewhat nuanced look at the different factions of the right and why they find themselves at odds with each other.

The point that the "Woke Right", stupid designation aside, is crawling out of the shadows to shoot their shot, seemed to be particularly astute. I do believe that the fringes of the right will fade into the background if the expected democratic electoral results of the midterms and beyond come to fruition.

Or at least, one can hope...

Yarvin (a/k/a Mencius Moldbug) has been cited by JD Vance as an important influence in his right turn and is promoted (and funded in part) by Peter Thiel.

I can't even tell if he's agreeing or disagreeing with Fuentes. But we would be better off as a society if both had never been born.

Right wingers, in addition to all of their numerous negative qualities, are all just so damned weird. All of them - men, women, black, white, Latino, whatever - they're all weird as hell with seemingly endless hangups and strange obsessions and petty grudges and private hypocrisies. And most of them hate one another nearly as much (but not quite) as they hate liberals and immigrants and minorities, which pretty much tells you what they're like in real life. The whole MAGA movement often seems like a coming together of many of the worst elements of American life and society into a single political force.

They have one overwhelming commonality. All have some major tenet in their life that will not hold up to objectivity. Some received wisdom is the core to their existence and what makes them special.

ETA: That's part of why they fight. The more "special" people, the less important being special is so somebody has to be wrong.
