I hate that it’s likely going to come down to hoping Arizona or Michigan take care of Duke in the championship game.

I’m just not having much belief in UConn or Danny Hurley at this point. Kinda similar to Duke in that regard, they never believed in Danny Hurley either. I don’t know if he remembers, but Duke didn’t offer Danny a scholarship out of high school. They were well aware of him, but to them he was nothing more than Bobby’s little brother. I’d assume that’s how they see him still to this day.

Fear not. I have a record of 1-13 picking dook** to win it all . I think there is a decent chance I will have a 1-14 record this year.🙏
 
Most teams who win the title have their one game where they snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. The Siena game gave me that sinking feeling where I thought, that was their scare, and now they run through the tourney.

I still have faith in Zona, plus dook has a history of a lesser UConn team taking them out in a big game (title game)… but the momentum gained from their guys coming back from injury, it just feels dangerously like it could be their year.
 
all of them follow a pretty simple recipe: come out focused, bust ass on D, run their O, and hit FTs down the stretch.

I understand your concern, but keep in mind every year was suppose their year for the last decade.
Win 30 games and have great KenPom and other metrics every year ? You would think they would have won 3 or4 titles over the past decade.

I think Tarris Reed could give dook** trouble inside and the starting 5 consists of seniors and juniors. dook** should win on paper, but history has shown experience trumps 5 star freshmen once you get to the Final Four. So UCONN has a chance to deny dook** a trip to the FF

I never thought they were going to lose to Siena. St. John's had a shot.

They still potentially have 3 coin type games to win so the odds are still against them.
 
There was a post earlier, something about how d00k isn’t hated as much anymore by the rest of the Nation since K passed away… urm… I mean went away. But to the contrary, there was just a big piece in Newsweek about the “Duke Whistle” or some such as that.
Sorry d00kies, everybody else still hates you. Any large TV audience is because most folks are hoping to watch you lose. Back in Dean’s day it was always ABC - anybody but Carolina - around the ACC… but that has been replaced by ABD, and that’s nation-wide, not just confined to the ACC.

I’m not an Illinois alum but I did marry into a family that is chock full of them- 28 in total if including both of my wife’s parents, 10 of her aunts and uncles, and currently 16 first cousins and counting.

I’ve been to Champaign-Urbana several times now with my FIL for Illinois football and basketball games- such a phenomenal college town with awesome people. Definitely have adopted Illinois as a second team. I-L-L!

I was born in Urbana (Dad was getting his Ph.D).

He’s not an Illini fan (he earned his Ph.D in 3 years and had two kids born in the first 15 months; so, he didn’t attend a lot of sporting events; plus, Illinois is the drowsiest of Sleeping Giants.)

I still hate dook and want the Heels to always beat them. I admit, though, the hate isn't as deep as it used to be when K was there and when they had players that stayed around longer.
