As awful as our loss was, dook's was worse, imo. We were missing our star player and weren't expected to go very far in the tournament anyway, although losing in the first round after having that big lead certainly hurt. They were the #1 overall seed in the tournament and some (including on this board) thought they'd win the title. And yet they also lost a 19-point lead and did it with some really dumb decisions and passes at the very end with a two-point lead.

I've argued before that Scheyer is overrated, and this game ought to prove it. dook consistently has one of the top-rated (if not the top-rated) recruiting classes in the country every single year, and yet so far all Scheyerface has to show for it is one Final Four and no national title game appearances. And even their one Final Four appearance ended with yet another embarrassing last-minute collapse against Houston. Last-minute implosions are becoming a Scheyer specialty.

This was 1000x worse for Duke than UNC. This is almost 2016 Villanova level bad for Duke.

And Scheyer has plenty of time to turn things around, but he now has a serious monkey on his back.

It's that bad because they blew a 19 point lead AND lost on 35 footer (following a turnover). How does it get worse?
