March Madness First Round - Weekend Games Thread

Money line favs have been low-risk free $

Maybe FL-AZ-Purdue tomorrow? Miami has a chance if they play well

Rest of the games I could see going either way

Out of 25 million plus brackets on ESPN, only 2 have gotten all 40 games right. And after tomorrow, there will likely be no perfect brackets remaining.

That tweet actually sums up my feelings about that crowd perfectly lol. They were extremely annoying about the refs the entire game. I am petty and will be rooting hard against Nebraska next round because of that.

Also, Sam Dekker is a player I haven’t thought about in ages. Blast from the past.

Vanderbilt just jacked up my bracket.

Damn fraudsters.

And Vandy really has a player named Chandler Bing???? 😂😂😂

A lot of chalk now... except for play-in game Cinderella Tejas - 11 seed beating a 3 seed. I guess a 6 seed losing to an 11 seed isn't so bad in comparison to a friggin' 3 SEED losing to a Play-in 11!

But there always seems to be that Cinderella, double-digit seed making it to the Sweet 16.
Look for more chalk today - with the only outlier perhaps being #3 Virginia going down to #6 Tenn

No doubt we would have gotten that same 21-pt thumping that VCU got from Illinois. I wonder... had we beaten VCU by double digits (like we should have) and then gone on to give Illinois a game (losing not by 21, but perhaps made it close, losing by single digits) if the PTB would be having the same conversations with Hubert that they're having right now? I'm thinking Hubert could have saved his job with that result. But as it stands...

I'm guessing the convo yesterday was like: "Coach, we can do this the easy way or..."
"You'll get your $5.3 mill you got coming, but you'll need to sign this here letter we took the liberty to draw up for you..."

I feel like Illinois would have beaten the brakes off of the Heels.

Agree. No doubt. 21 pt margin like VCU. +/-

Let us not forget, we lost to Mich St., SMU, Cal and Stanford - ALL with a full compliment of players. No one was injured. All starters and significant bench players were available.

There was a good chance we wouldn't have seen the Sweet 16 even with Caleb

This is Sean Miller’s first season at Texas. They were up and down all year trying to gel so they didn’t have a very good record, but they’re an athletic roster with some really nice players. Also, love him or hate him, Miller can get his teams ready to roll for the tournament. I wasn’t too surprised to see them pull it out tbh.

I think there's a good chance they make the S16 with Caleb.

Probably have a better seed and they had wins @iva and vs dook after those earlier losses.

I was surprised how good that looked last night because they looked terrible and incompetent vs. NC State.

Illinois was one of the worst possible matchups for UNC

If Gonzaga was sitting as their 3 instead I would have felt like they missed out

Three of today's lower seeds are favored. Granted, two of them, Tennessee and and Texas Tech, are only 1.5 point favorites (and the TT/Alabama game is a 4 vs. 5, so would it really be an upset if TT wins?). Kansas/St. John's is also a 4 vs. 5, but 5 seed St. John's is a 3.5 point favorite in that one...

I can imagine, but it's pretty hard to take them seriously when their pride and joy football team hasn't been relevant nationally or even within their conference in many years. It's almost the definition of a has-been program at this point.
