“U.S. President Donald Trump deported 37,660 people during his first month in office, previously unpublished U.S. Department of Homeland Security data show, far less than the monthly average of 57,000 removals and returns in the last full year of Joe Biden's administration.”

Trump said they intend deport 20 million illegal immigrants. At their current pace that will take 44 years.

They are already claiming it is because Trump is so respected and feared that immigrants quit coming and many here self-deported rather than face his wrath.

I do thing a lot of immigrants without legal status have become much more cautious about movements in public — gone to ground to the extent possible so as not to be an easy target and hoping that they won’t be nabbed at work. Not sure how long that will last.

I heard a story on CNN this morning about a permanent legal resident and military veteran who was nabbed by ICE on January 22 and remains in detention today even though he and his wife have documented his legal resident status.

That could impact border encounters. I don’t think it would have any impact on deportations. At least not yet.

Trump ends deportation protection for 500,000 Haitians

“The US government will end the temporary protected status (TPS) for 500,000 Haitians living in the country in August, the Department of Homeland Security said on Thursday.

This comes despite deteriorating conditions in the Caribbean country, with gangs controlling about 85% of the capital and sexual violence against children increasing by 1,000% last year, according to the United Nations.

TPS is granted to nationals of designated countries facing unsafe conditions, such as armed conflict or environmental disasters. …”

Legalizing hard drugs is up there with abolishing the police as far as stupid ideas the far left comes up with. Get real, people who advocate this have no idea how unserious of a proposal this is, its so unrealistic and will be far more harmful than you realize. You know nothing about human psychology or why people do drugs in the first place if this is your idea of a solution.

It actually sickens me that people think its okay for the government to offer people ways to destroy their own lives (and anyone who loves them).
Fast food is more of an overall danger to our society than narcotics. Alcohol being everywhere now (dog parks, movie theaters, etc) is more of a danger than narcotics.

I thought you people were for freedom. You want a nanny state under your own rules. You don't want personal liberty.

I don't care to speculate on what the average street level cop in Boston thinks about "illegals '. But if they see the ICE agents as "outsiders"-it could get Ugly

“… The White House and Trump’s supporters have attributed the low numbers to his tough border stances, including the deployment of the troops, which they say shows migrants they are ready to hold the line.

… In addition to force deployments, Trump has shut down the entire asylum system at the southern border, denying migrants a chance to ask for safety even if they attempt to do so at a legal port of entry.

Meanwhile, some of Trump’s detractors—and even some supporters—have called the troop deployment a waste of resources.

Alberto Olivares, a retired Border Patrol agent, said he has been thrilled to see the developments at the border in the past month and he gives the credit to Trump. But, as he spots the soldiers around town and the helicopters from his otherwise-tranquil ranch, he said he doesn’t know why they are there. …”

How many millions have we spent of border Kabuki? Where is the outrage from resident peddlers of “are you claiming there’s no fraud and inefficiency in the government?!”?

Hey people, take a look at this. Why is Trump trying to create some bullshit disease justification? Because the law doesn't permit him to just close the border.

So everyone critical of Biden on this issue: it's like I said all along. It takes time to craft policy. You can't just sign a paper and make it happen -- unless you are willing to go with patently obvious chicanery like "the Mexicans are bringing in tuberculosis." Good for Biden for not lying disgracefully.

There are 2.9 cases of TB for every 100,000 Americans. The two highest incidence states? Noted migrant worker havens Alaska and Hawaii. Also our Pacific holdings have astronomically higher incidence rates. Meanwhile, Puerto Rico clocks in at 0.7 per 100K.
