Mostly the portable handgun safes.
I figured it was a storage cabinet or one of those file safe type boxes. Good gun safes offer very stout security. The gun cabinets don’t offer much resistance to determination and 10 minutes of time.
Hell, some of them are wood and have glass doors so you can admire the hand built double rifle or competition skeet gun stored within.

No storage system is perfect. As I said earlier, there is a guy whose entire YouTube channel is dedicated to showing people how to pick locks on gun safes. This wasn't a four year old who found a gun under his mom's bed. This was a grown man who very easily could have simply bought a gun if he wanted one that badly. It is probably better off for everyone that he stole a pistol instead of buying an AR.
I’m not doubting what you say but the empirical evidence tells us her system failed. If her safety protocols led to him accessing the gun against her wishes she effed something up.

I’d bet however that he had open access to her weaponry.

I read somewhere that there was a Fla State student on campus during this shooting that was also at a high school where there was a mass shooting.

The only purpose this serves is to be able to shoot more people faster, and MAGA and Pubs are okay with it.

I've got mixed feeling on this. I've fired an M-16A2 on single shot and full auto. The first time I did it, was on a firing range with the barrel of the rifle resting on a sand bad. On single shot, where I paused and aimed between shots, I hit targets at 400 yards every time. On full auto, I'd be lucky to hit a target 40 yards away with one shot out of 18. Even on full auto where I was releasing the trigger as quickly as I could (about 3 or 4 shots), I still missed more times than I hit at 40 yards. Now, an M-60 or a .50 cal that was locked in place, that's a whole different matter. With an M-60, if it was in a tripod, locked in place on a specific target, and you fired short bursts, then it was pretty deadly. Same with a .50 cal, but it had to be locked in place on top of a tracked vehicle. On a jeep, the recoil from a .50 cal would rock the jeep so much that you couldn't hit anything.

“… About 90 minutes after the shooting, police called it an isolated incident and said there is no risk to the community. They did not release any information on possible suspects or what led to the shooting.

The shooting happened around a boat dock near the Intracoastal Waterway.

… A North Myrtle Beach police officer responding to the shooting accidentally shot himself in the leg at a marina about 3 miles (5 kilometers) away and is in the hospital in stable condition, North Myrtle Beach spokeswoman Lauren Jessie said. …”

I wonder if the wife of the "North Myrtle Beach police officer" thought, "Saw that coming," upon being notified.

Suspect still at large, and the sheriff being unusually tight-lipped about information on the suspect. Apparently it was an argument after leaving a charter boat after a big party. The boat can carry 120 people. No life threatening injuries thank goodness.

Did catch this guy. He had fled to Chicago. 19-year-old. The suspect is the son of the party organizer and apparently he and his friend were the only two people not patted down at the beginning of the party. Glad everyone's physically okay and glad they got him.

Probably something involving a rapper or singer with money having a party with a place like that being the site of the shooting

It may have been. Wonder if the house was rented as a VRBO or something. Shootouts at parties in the middle of the night are often gang related.
So your theory is that some local bangers -- one presumes from the bustling metropolis of Hickory NC -- rented a house in the middle of nowhere and invited a bunch of people? Then, some rival bangers -- who knew Hickory was large enough to support multiple gangs -- showed up and they started wasting each other?

I find that to be, shall we say, far fetched. Maybe they came from Charlotte? Because, yes, bangers usually drive 100 miles to rent a house somewhere.

if you really think it's more likely that a "rapper or singer" with new money to burn would spend it on a house in Mountain View, NC, than that a rich white suburbanite kid was the shooter, I'm sorry not sorry - you're just being racist.

Yes, that is my theory. Gangs and gang culture are not confined to the cities.

Thanks to Hwy 321 the Charlotte bangers could very easily and comfortably make the drive to Mt. View without having to bother with I-77 or I-40. It really changes the shootout calculus.

You can just set the cruise control and sit in the right lane while listening to true crime podcasts.
