if you really think it's more likely that a "rapper or singer" with new money to burn would spend it on a house in Mountain View, NC, than that a rich white suburbanite kid was the shooter, I'm sorry not sorry - you're just being racist.
Not being racist. Sorry if it came off like that. I am just going by what usually happens with mass shootings and where they happen. I probably shouldn't assume, though.

Statistically speaking a rich suburbanite white kid was probably not the shooter.

It may have been. Wonder if the house was rented as a VRBO or something. Shootouts at parties in the middle of the night are often gang related.

Yes, that is my theory. Gangs and gang culture are not confined to the cities.
Your theory was that it was inner city violence. That's what the "it may have been" was referencing. So now you're saying that it was rural or small town gangs? Which is it? Maybe it's not gangs at all?

Thanks to Hwy 321 the Charlotte bangers could very easily and comfortably make the drive to Mt. View without having to bother with I-77 or I-40. It really changes the shootout calculus.

You can just set the cruise control and sit in the right lane while listening to true crime podcasts.
Not sure if sarcastic. I think so.

So your theory is that some local bangers -- one presumes from the bustling metropolis of Hickory NC -- rented a house in the middle of nowhere and invited a bunch of people? Then, some rival bangers -- who knew Hickory was large enough to support multiple gangs -- showed up and they started wasting each other?

I find that to be, shall we say, far fetched. Maybe they came from Charlotte? Because, yes, bangers usually drive 100 miles to rent a house somewhere.
Just FYI, there are gangs in Hickory, although they are “local” gangs with little to no affiliation with gangs from outside the area.

This doesn’t strike me as gang-related activity, but if it was a HS party that got very large, it wouldn’t be completely out of the realm of possibility that members from different gangs ended up at the same party and something went down.

But it’s more likely to be something else, based on the location and early details.

Should have specified gang or drug-related. Gang culture is a common thread in a lot of these “party” shootings.

Drug related, sure. That's a very different beast, and obviously not specially linked to inner city violence. I mean, some gang activity involves drugs, but not all (or even most) drug activity is run by organizations we think of as "gangs."

Mountain View is roughly a one-hour drive from Charlotte. It is possible that a bunch of folks from Charlotte were looking for a nice, big Airbnb with a pool and booked that place. And it is possible that some of them may have had involvement in criminal activity and had beef with others who can form bad intentions. I’m not making any assumptions, but that certainly doesn’t seem out of the question. Of course it could be that situation involving people who are not from Charlotte.

Better question: what is Josh Stein doing to protect the God-fearing people of Mt. View from Charlotte gangbangers who can now make the drive with fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles? What these thugs save on gas they now invest in bullets.

The claim was that it was inner city violence. That claim has been subsequently modified/clarified. I just googled gang related shootings in Hickory and there were a few hits, from 5-8 years ago, mostly about residents suspecting gang violence. Given that frequency, it is possible but the background probability says it's quite unlikely.

Come on, people. This is graduation season. Has nobody had kids graduate recently? They all throw huge parties with alcohol, etc. That’s almost certainly what this was. Just a bunch of drunk local 18 yo’s, and someone with a gun got mad.
But how did this Fred T. Foard graduate get involved with a Charlotte gang?

Per police, it was multiple people with guns and 80+ shots fired. I’m thinking my initial theory is looking more and more likely. Most normal “parties” don’t have a single armed person, let alone several.
