“… Sanford, a US Marine veteran, according to his mom’s Facebook page, rammed his Chevy Silverado truck into the building before unleashing the assault on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, armed with a semi-automatic rifle.

… Cops said there were hundreds of worshippers inside when the attack began, and that an unknown number of victims could be found inside once the building is safe to enter after a massive blaze consumed nearly the entire building, aerial footage showing an enormous plume of choking black smoke rising up from the structure….”
Apparently striking nurses left a nearby picket line and ran to the scene of the shooting to help.

I think white evangelicals is wrong. Evangelicals is accurate.
I think evangelicals is wrong.

You’re talking about fundamentalists, white fundamentalists …..Liberal, left evangelicals exist…….they’re deceased, but see Robert Seymour and his wife Pearl and Seymour’s parishioner, Dean E. Smith……

That has been repeated often here and at ZZLP when posters trying to take a shot at me and I have never answered as I will now. We are a county with 7O percent POC, lots of poverty, the effects of Jim Crow etc. Obviously crime is an issue because it's attached poverty. So, yea, sad place but it seems to garner scorn not sympathy. I've worked in many ways to make this place better.
I can’t think of anyone who has worked harder and longer to try and improve Robeson County, Lumberton, Pembroke, Red Springs, Rowland, Parkton, St. Pauls, and other Robeson communities than ‘79.

Robeson County is a different breed. Rural North Carolina is a different breed.

A relative married into a WEALTHY family in Scotland County. That family owned huge swaths of Robeson County (and the fast food restaurants close to I-95) and surrounding counties. When you drive through Laurinburg and see its really big football stadium for a shitty little town……Look at the name…..Pate Stadium. That family owns Scotland and the surrounding counties.

One might say, “Big deal.” We’re talking 10’s of millions annually. This family EXTRACTED wealth from Scotland, Robeson, and neighboring counties for decades.

They continue to extract wealth from those counties.

When integration began, that family sent their kids to an all-white private school just across the border in South Carolina.

State police continue to respond to bomb threats in community

Michigan State Police have responded to additional bomb threats at several locations throughout the community, spokesperson Lt. Kim Vetter said at the 8 p.m. ET news conference. She added that state police searched and cleared multiple churches on Sunday evening.

The threats came after the suspect was killed in the church shooting, according to Vetter.

Meanwhile, local, in-media reports (unconfirmed by credible media) that witnesses claim the shooter was asking people whether they believe in Joseph Smith or Jesus Christ.

Separately, the shooter’s FB page (and his mom’s FB page) were both super MAGA. Two petitions the shooter is known to have signed were opposed to Whitmer’s COVID restrictions and anti-abortion.

No motive has been announced by the FBI or police yet, and we know how these things can evolve, but for whatever reason this guy may have had a deranged beef with LDS specifically…

“… The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the casino around 11:45 p.m. Saturday, assisting tribal police in securing the area and searching for the shooter. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Keryan Jones, fled in a black Nissan Frontier but was later captured in Stockdale, Wilson County, with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

… According to the Eagle Pass News Leader, sources said Jones previously served in the National Guard and was once stationed in Arizona. He was seen on casino surveillance cameras before fleeing and was tracked through his vehicle to a Circle K in Stockdale around 7:40 a.m. Sunday.

… The shooting happened during a raffle event that drew a large crowd to the casino. Witnesses told Fox SA's Yami Virgin they heard gunshots, saw a person on the ground outside, and described chaos as people tried to escape….”
