Well, that dad sure showed the FBI what he thought of their meddling in his and his son's rights. Now, let's hope jury of the dad's peers let the father know what they think of his parenting skills and his meddling in the right to life of four of his neighbors.

Ultimately anything can be worked around.
Most criminals with the intent to steal will target a home where the occupants are not home. They really don't want the risk of a person confronting them.

Ok, well that is a plan and you did answer my question. I would support that, but I'm skeptical that it would work in the US.
I would prefer that we first focus on consistent comprehensive national regulations around purchasing and owning a gun. Regulations that require training, define safe storage, and define transfer.

I do agree that we need a culture shift away from the culture that believes guns are a solution to problems and back to a culture of talking and working out issues.

I'm not sure.
There are many gun owners that just hunt or target shoot that are responsible with there guns.
We need to change the culture of those that believe a gun solved conflict, but how do we do that when our government seems to believe that they work for solving conflict?

IIRC, somewhere I read that there was a divorce, and two younger siblings went with mom, and this kid stayed with dad.

She and dad separated, she has custody of shooter’s two younger siblings, he had custody the shooter. She apparently has drug use but not clear from what I’ve read whether addiction or poor decision-making. Her father says the marriage failed because dad has anger management issues and is verbally abusive. Still not clear how shooter ended up with dad instead of mom (maybe by choice?).

The judge said that because Gray is under 18, he isn’t eligible for the death penalty. …”
