How many people do you think, who utter “thoughts and prayers” about these shootings, how many do you think actually offer up a prayer… either out loud or in their hearts? I’m putting the over/under at 50%.

Not sure but I assume so. The chief is police in Madison mentioned it during his news conference.
Sounds like she used a 9mm pistol that she stole from her dad. All for safe storage laws. Not sure they would have prevented this particular incident as teenagers can be crafty and there are all kinds of videos online about how to get into most less expensive gun boxes. They would prevent toddlers from accidentally shooting themselves or someone else though.

Not that it’s relevant, but I wondered about 1) a 7 year old kid having a cell phone and 2) how events like this create a rational resistance to school cell phone bans/restrictions. It’s not like there is a phone in every classroom or hallway. That call may well have saved lives and another 5 minute delay could have been even more tragic.

I think about when's a good age to get my kid a cell phone. He just turned 5 and starts kindergarten next fall. That's looking more and more like a pretty good time to get one.

Every time there is a mass shooting now, some MAGA person on this forum tries to claim the shooter is a lefty, and transgendered.
Ramrouser will let it fade as the truth doesn’t fit his narrative. Just like every other single mass shooting other than maybe one.

The “83 school shootings” line is very misleading.

No. I'll wait until more facts come out. I saw the shooter's statement published on X (with no community note) but it does need to be verified. If verified, it will support my position. I should have waited before posting this morning. But the way the authorities treated the Nashville shooter's manifesto does not give me confidence it will be verified anytime soon.
