You can't eliminate all gun deaths. That's like eliminating all drownings, or eliminating all motor vehicle deaths, or eliminating all obesity. It simply isn't possible.
With the understanding that there is no Constitutional Amendment that addresses drownings obesity, or motor vehicle deaths...

I think if we adhere to the meaning of Amendment II of the Constitution, we can eliminate all gun deaths. I am not sure how we can reduce drownings or motor vehicle deaths unless those deaths are gun related,,,

The meaning of the Second Amendment has already been interpreted. It is no longer up for debate. If you want to outlaw guns, you need to introduce and pass a new constitutional amendment. You'll just need to convince 38 states to ban firearms. Look at any electoral map and tell me which 38 states you think will go along with that plan. Keep in mind that overturning the 2nd or banning firearms is a terribly unpopular proposal even amongst Democrats.

The Second Amendment has been interpreted ( by who ) and no longer up for debate ? I don't think so...

But leaving that aside, would you agree that if no one had a gun in America, we would be a much safer country ?

Sure. I’d also agree that if no one had cars, we would have zero traffic fatalities. Neither of those situations is realistic, though. And the Second has been interpreted by numerous courts including the SCOTUS, which has repeatedly upheld the individual’s right to own firearms. As I said before, only about 10% of Democrats are in favor of an outright ban on all guns. You simply aren’t going to find 38 states that agree to ban firearms. Hence, going after the criminals who own guns illegally because that is something that can be done right now.

The fact that prisons are filled with criminals proves your statement is false.

So gun crimes don’t happen? Every single criminal who uses guns illegally is immediately incarcerated? There aren’t people out there illegally carrying guns and then committing crimes with those guns? Man, that’s great! Gun crime is over! No need for any new legislation.

We definitely shouldn't try to do anything different at all about guns because it might not end all gun deaths and keep bad people from getting guns, even though it could make it harder and prevent as many deaths.

We have 15 year olds out here shooting at each other, but there’s nothing we can do to get guns off the street because of some shit Scalia wrote in 2008.

Why not do something about gun crime right now by enforcing existing laws instead of waiting 300 years for 38 states to finally agree about making another amendment to the constitution.

Those 15 year olds aren’t allowed to carry the weapons they are carrying. We are able to go after them with no new laws needed.
