We think in language. Our experience of the world is mediated and in some ways created by language. Language is important. So when the language gets distorted by slang, it can have real effects. I love colorful language. I love slang. I'm one of the many, many people who think English as a colloquial language has been vastly improved by the adoption of black slang (and to a lesser extent, spanish-language). But good slang doesn't distort.

3. I don't think there is any comparison between what I'm saying and "the word is hanged." The second one is pure pedantry. My point sounds in ethics. If our language doesn't respect important distinctions, then how can we expect people to?

Am I missing something? The big Las Vegas shooting from the hotel at the country music concert did happen on October 1st 2017. At first I thought they just messed up the date but I think something like 60 people died. Why does it say 17 people? Was there another shooting lately in Las vegas? I googled and didn't see anything.
