Early morning shooting in multiple homes in the same neighborhood

“… “We do believe him to be the only individual that fired gunshots at these locations here,” Bordelon said.

Police did not share any information about the suspect, but Bordelon said some of the children in the homes “were his descendants.” A motive for the shooting is not clear at this time.”

Shamar Elkins is the killer. 31 year old army vet. 7 of the 8 children he killed were his own

Unspeakable tragedy.

I know what I'm about to write makes no sense at all, but who shoots children? All these mass shooters are nuts. But children? Jeffrey McDonald almost got away with murdering his wife because no one could believe he would kill his own children. I just don't see how anyone could ever forgive themselves for intentionally killing a child.

I think that’s what made Sandy Hook especially unspeakable… as is this tragedy.

My wife calls me crying 10 minutes ago. Apparently multiple people shot at Leinbach park this morning in Winston-Salem. Mt. Tabor HS on lockdown, Jefferson Middle school (right by the park) on lockdown. Son made it home from Mt. Tabor but my wife is shaken. We walk by this park nearly everyday for exercise. Son said it was a senior skip day at Mt. Tabor which may explain why there were possibly anything other than old people, parents and children at this park.

News report said it was a preplanned confrontation that escalated into a shooting.

This is going to cause some pearl clutching from the suburban, slightly geriatric predominantly Caucasian set that lives around this park. The Y gym I use everyday is practically right next to this park as are the outdoor fields for the middle school.

Was at Leinbach park on Saturday afternoon for a birthday party.

Edit: rumor mill says it was Tabor kids… that was where the fatal shooting in 2021. Senseless.

“…Shamar Elkins, 31, who served in the Louisiana Army National Guard, visited the local Veterans Affairs hospital for a mental health evaluation, stayed there for a week and a half and was released, said Crystal Brown-Page, a cousin of Elkins’s brother-in-law, Troy Brown.

Elkins’s wife, Shaneiqua Pugh, told him she was seeking a divorce, and they were due to appear in court Monday, Brown-Page said.

“I think that triggered something in him,” she said, but they had not argued the previous week and he had not been violent in the past. “There were no previous signs.”

Troy Brown, who lived with Elkins and whose 10-year-old son was also killed in the rampage, agreed.

“He had his head on straight, talking about the things he was going to do right, being a good dad,” Brown said, adding that the night before the shooting, when Brown left to work night shift, Elkins joked with him as he moved his car to let Brown pull out.

“He was calm. It’s like he had no cares in the world,” Brown said.…”

The question! Why the hell are Americans so insecure? Answer that and we’ll know the road to recovery from this craziness.

Nearest thing to a gun I have had was a Rottweiler mix…I think. If you had entered my home uninvited you might have thought you needed a gun. He sounded like a bad ass…might have been.

But I grew up with guns. And my brother-in-law managed to shoot himself through the hand with a pistol. My brother handed my dad a loaded rifle just before I heard a bullet zing over my head.

But, I don’t feel insecure. And, I understand that gun owners are at much greater risk of being shot than non-owners. “Research has suggested that individuals who possess a gun are more than four times more likely to be shot in an assault, challenging the notion that carrying a weapon always provides protective benefits”-ncgvr.org.
