More scandal about Olivia Nuzzi. You have to read to the last line. If you are impatient, just skip to it.

She certainly sounds like an "interesting" person. Few (if any) journalistic ethics or scruples, no morals or conscience, consumed with her sense of self-importance and need for attention, and perfectly willing to sleep with famous (much) older men to advance her career, which is about as anti-feminist as one can be. In other words, she's a perfect MAGA and fit for this administration. If her writing career comes to an end I'm sure that Dear Leader will find a high-ranking job for her in his administration somewhere. Maybe he'll make her the Director of NASA or the next Secretary of the Interior, as experience and qualifications don't matter a whit in this presidency, you just need to look the part and have a really sketchy past, and she certainly qualifies on that account.

Donald Trump Expresses Caution About Lifting FCC Limits On Ownership Of TV Stations

“… The FCC limits any company from amassing stations that reach more than 39% of TV households.

In June, the FCC under Chairman Brendan Carr, who was appointed by Trump, launched a proceeding to take comment on whether to retain, modify or eliminate the cap.

One of the big advocates of lifting the cap is Nexstar, which is seeking FCC approval for its acquisition of Tegna. The merger would put Nexstar well above the cap, and it is requesting a waiver in the meantime. Other station groups like Sinclair Broadcast Group have been advocates of increasing or eliminating the cap, arguing that the rules are outdated since the dawn of big tech.

But such deregulation has run into opposition. In his Truth Social post, Trump linked to a Newsmax story on its CEO Chris Ruddy‘s opposition to eliminating the ownership cap. Ruddy is a longtime friend of the president.

“Reagan understood if you have left-wing networks like ABC, NBC and CBS — or groups like Nexstar today controlling every local station and their local news — Republicans would have little chance to win in state and federal elections,” Ruddy said, per the piece….”

“Bari Weiss says she wants to use her new perch at CBS News to “redraw the lines of what falls in the 40 yards of acceptable debate” in American political and cultural life. She says the aim is to sideline voices like Hasan Piker, Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes, and elevate “charismatic” figures such as Alan Dershowitz and Dana Loesch who reflect “where the vast majority of Americans actually are.””

Saying that Alan Dershowitz is a credible voice of where most Americans are is just utterly inaccurate, tone-deaf, and wildly ignorant of the facts surrounding the guy. Stay with me here, but somehow I don't think most Americans are going to tune in to CBS to hear an elderly lawyer who has very credibly been accused of repeatedly abusing Epstein's underage girls and who has written op-eds saying that the age of consent should be lowered below 16.

She can say whatever the hell she wants, but the bottom line is that she is going to gut the news division's journalistic standards and ethics panels and move it to the MAGA right and downwards to tabloid hell in a vain bid to steal viewers from Fox and other right-wing outlets. Or, CBS News as TMZ with a Trumper bent. Somewhere Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite are spinning in their graves.

I've been day drinking since 7am but I would be ok with her vision of CBS News based upon that clip. As a liberal I don't mind "debate between the 40 yard lines". That suggests to me she wants debate between liberals and conservatives who live on earth 1

but I've been day drinking since 7am so I could be wrong...

I dunno. I think most Americans want their artisanal perogies and are prepared to threaten a lawsuit if they can't get them.

Cal,
Is this post an intervention to address my 7am day drinking ?
I'm with you in spirit but I'd rather smoke mine. Try to stick to nothing stronger than coffee earlier.

Never did day drink. The worst way to wake up is half hungover at dusk and I can't day drink without falling asleep.

The trick is is to sip small amounts throughout the day which will avoid a hangover as you build up a tolerance over time. Now following asleep is a bit of an issue. I will take a few cat naps here and there, but I blame the naps on boredom when this board and the news has suffered a brief lull.

When I was a student at UNC back in the 70s I rarely missed a day of smoking weed. I guess you could say I was day smoking. But to my credit it did not prevent me from graduating !

Back in the day I did pretty much every type of drug there was, but I aged out 40 years ago and now I am content to wake up each morning and day drink until dinner time😜

I did too much of both most of my life. Quit drinking when I developed cancer of the larynx. Doctors are pretty sure that's what caused it. Seems like drinking a half pint or more of bourbon everyday for thirty is not that good for you. Who knew? And, of course, I couldn't eat or drink anything for 3-4 months. Alcohol through a gastric tube had no appeal.

By the time I was cured (six years and counting since treatment ended) I had lost most of my interest in drinking. Probably a bit gunshy since my youngest got my love for whiskey and I still sometimes drink his.

Throughout it all , pot has kept me as sane as I am. Tincture through a g tube was a serious blessing for a while. And with the Farm Bill, it's become a fairly cheap pastime for now. They're trying to repeal that currently. By the time they do, I might be old enough to try to buy a lifetime supply.
