My kids are great at giving gifts that are thoughtful and well liked.

My daughter brought me whiskey from Scotland.

My youngest made me a wonderful hoodie with a Highland Coo on it.

And I got a great lego set from my other daughter. 1000011431.jpg

They don't need to get me anything, since I have everything I could possibly need. But they are always so thoughtful with the gifts the give me. Things that make me very happy.

I'm very fortunate to have such wonderful children.

My daughter made the shirt. She uses bleach to draw the picture.

Yes they do really think out their gifts.

My oldest son has the same Castle! Took him like 2 days to build which is about normal for him. It took him like 2 weeks to build the massive Millennium Falcon.

That hoodie is bad ass though!
 
The Christmas decorations come down today. I adhere to my mother's superstition that it is bad luck to have two trees in one year so it all must come down before New Year's Day.

(And like her, I want to get the house back to normal as quickly as possible, which is why she probably invented the superstition to begin with!)

I wouldn't mind taking my tree and decorations down this weekend, but my wife likes to leave them up until Jan 6, the 12th day of Christmas. But it is absolutely forbidden to wash any clothes on New Year's Day.

That's a new one for me but I like those sorts of "traditions." Are you allowed to wash towels and sheets on New Year's Day or is the washing machine completely off limits?

I don't do any just to be safe. The lore is if you wash clothes on New Year's Day that you are washing for the dead.

Then I try to smell it and actually mumble "what the hell". My sense of smell is gone. I've had a nasty head-cold (passed from my son) since Monday... So then Xmas morning becomes a fun scramble for masks and antigen tests.

Did your MIL give you trick odorless soap to cause you to leave early for COVID testing?
