John Henry Faulk’s “Christmas Story”: John Henry Faulks was born in Austin, Texas in 1913 and he died there in 1990. A storyteller and entertainer, if you know of him today it is probably because of a 1974 recording of his “Christmas Story.” [Link at end of intro] What you might not know is that Faulk was black listed for battling McCarthyism in the 1950s and won one of the first libel suits against that insidious Right-Wing movement. Phil Ochs, the singer-songwriter (also attacked by the Right) wrote “The Ballad of John Henry Faulk” to remember his struggle ( — Lyrics here: The Ballad Of John Henry Faulk ).
Before I ever knew of Faulk’s courage and tenacity I heard and loved his “Christmas Story.” Do yourself a favor and give it a listen and remember this Great American and Warrior for Human and Civil Rights. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
That sucks. Talk about a lump of coal for Christmas! Thanks everyone for being here! I get to spend Christmas feeling miserable with my second bout of Covid. Such great luck!

My kids are all in their 20's.I couldn't really get into Christmas this year. The kids are teens now so it's different now than when they were younger. It just felt off for some reason. I felt more like I just wanted to get it over with than looking forward to it.
Christmas definitely gets better and better as the kids get older. I still miss the "What did Santa bring us?" days at times, but older kids bring a whole different level of love to the equation. Way more tears were shed this year than when they were younger. My kids are all in their 20's.
This year was great. There was so much thought in each gift, no gift cards. We all found things that each other really wanted and fit into their interest and lifestyles.
Completely agree.Christmas definitely gets better and better as the kids get older. I still miss the "What did Santa bring us?" days at times, but older kids bring a whole different level of love to the equation. Way more tears were shed this year than when they were younger.
