Mingo chooses Carolina

Really good rebound from Hubert after whiffing on the early targets (including Josh Howard’s son) Adams and Mingo is a hell of a close
 
Sayon Keita – 5 – FC Barcelona Lassa B – Not Ranked
7-0 center that has been part of FC Barcelona ecosystem. Played well in summer events held in US including NBPA Top 100 and NBA Academy Games. Runs floor well, great length, quick off feet. Offensively, used as rim runner / lob threat, still very much developing other parts of game. Defensively, shot blocking is primary skill-set with physical attributes and timing. Class of 2027 but is expected to re-class to 2026. Officially visited UNC on Aug.

With Seth moving on, Evans maybe, if Dixon and Dennis stay around we could be in good shape. Maybe Luka wants to graduate from UNC.

Anyone know if Ivan Matlekovic will ever earn playing time?
 
I know nothing about the kid but he is clearly very highly regarded and recruited. Congrats to the staff. Carolina should always be at the top of the list for major prospects. It's good to see.

He is a combo guard-but at this point not a great shooter-so not yuor ideal 2
He is reaaal long for a guard 6'9 wingspan Claims he is a defensive Dawg

I may be in the minority here but I'd actually like for Evans to stay next year. He was miscast this year as a PG without good complements next to him, but he would fit much better next to Dixon/Mingo playing a role much closer to the one he played next to Nique Clifford for Colorado State. In the end, though, I expect he'll move on unless he's willing to take a big pay cut to stay.

It would seem a virtual certainty that at least 2 from the group of Evans, Bogovac, Young, and Denis won't be here next year. If Mingo's brother transfers too (no idea how likely that is) we're probably looking at at least 3 of them moving on.

He's not an ideal 2 but I think he fits very well next to Dixon, given Dixon's shooting ability. That would give us two good ballhandlers on the court; they could handle the point between them and play together as well. Then you need 1-2 more rotation guards, preferably with both being able to shoot off the ball effectively.
 
Seems the NBA mock drafts have Veesaar going in the bottom of the first round, which provides roughly a $2.5M salary guaranteed for two years. If I were UNC's GM I'd be offering him something like $4M to see if he would stay for another year. Understand it's about getting to the second contract, but if he can get in one year close to what he'd get in two years in the NBA it might be worth it to stay another year. Of course he won't have Caleb Wilson playing beside him, which is a big loss.
