MTG is certainly getting a media tour to discuss her break with Trump, but without a political constituency, I’m not sure where this ends for her. It feels like she’ll shrink like Alice in Wonderland as a voice (and perhaps a profitable one) in the crowded political influencer space, but not sure who her base will be after a bruising battle with Trump. Elon Musk gets to have a nasty spat but come back into the fold because he’s the richest man in the world and made it clear he is willing to spend lavishly on political warfare.

I thought the most telling line was in this passage….how the right lives in a completely different world due to their information bubble. Right wing media has created an unbridgeable gulf between people who live in the real world and those who exist in the right wing information desert of alternative facts.

During the 2024 campaign, Trump indicated a willingness to release all files pertaining to his former friend Jeffrey Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. Greene now says it didn’t register with her at the time that Trump never exhibited much relish for the subject — and, for that matter, that numerous photos had circulated showing him palling around with Epstein.

The reason for her lack of concern, as Greene explained it to me, might seem improbable to anyone who is unfamiliar with how the mainstream press and the right-wing media cover the same story differently — or not at all. “The story to me,” she said, “was that I’d seen pictures of Epstein with all these people. And Trump is just one of several. And then, for me, I’d seen that Bill Clinton is on the flight logs for his plane like 20-something times. So, for people like me, it wasn’t suspicious. And then we’d heard the general stories of how Epstein used to be a member of Mar-a-Lago, but Trump kicked him out. Why would I think he’s done anything wrong, right?”

I really do feel sorry for Marge. I mean, NOBODY was trying to tell potential Trump voters in 2024 that the man was a sociopathic criminal who would have no compunctions about fucking underage girls.

yeah, it's really disturbing. the right wing "information" bubble creates an alternate reality. earth 2 with their alternative facts, as KAC so eloquently put it.

in this social media age, the information battle really seems like our waterloo as a society. right now, the bad actors are winning entirely too often.
