Yep. He's been married to Trump for years and helped pay his way through professional school, so to speak. And then Trump up and leaves him for a younger woman, essentially. And Bannon is acting like a scorned spouse.

I've been thinking a lot lately that the best thing for dems to do is just sit back, be kind and polite, and let MAGA eat itself. I just think it's bound to happen...the whole cult is filled with these backstabbing liars who can easily come to hate each other as much or more as they do liberals.

Whenever Trump dies or steps aside, the scrum to replace him is going to end up a bloodbath of morons.

I get your point but only so far. If I metaphorically find one teetering on the brink of disaster, I'll probably reach out and push, not pull.

Won't work. Whoever does their best to align themselves with Trump will get the MAGA crowd. Everyone else will just be labeled a RINO.

It won't be that easy, "whoever does their best to align themselves with Trump."

They're *all* going to try to take over his mantle, but in order to do so they're going to have to go after each other. Trump has genuine charisma...who else does? Kimberly Guilfoyle? Don Jr? Kash Patel? Steve Bannon? Those people are going to just murder each other for the top dog position.

The only one I can think of right now who would have a chance of pulling it off is Elon Musk.

I think we need to do everything possible to assure the basic functioning of the government and to protect marginalized communities, but other than that I agree.

I think it’s interesting that Dems usually get annoyed that we’re a party of a lot of smaller groups and it makes it hard for the party to unify, often a bit jealous of the Pubs for their ability to pull together. But it strikes me that Pubs have a similar problem of divisions in their party, the main difference being that Dems tend to splinter after losses and/or when things are going poorly, but Pubs tend to do so after they win and/or when things are going well.

I don't think we can sit back. The tech oligarchs (well, most of them) have made the conscious decision that they are fine with autocracy if it means less regulation and a cheaper labor force. Democrats need to forget that these guys used to be their campaign benefactors - they are now true ideological opponents, and the brand needs to emphasize that transition.
 


I guess Bannon had to do his own deniable salute (it was pretty quick/awkward) at CPAC to provide a what, me? batsignal to the white nationalist base.

I remember Marc Andreesen at Loudcloud as a dorky tech nerd. Marc had hired consultants - appearance, speaking, mannerisms, nutrition, fitness…….kudos to him. He was trying to not be that young tech geek who was fat and did nothing but sit in front of a computer and eat chips.

Ben Horowitz was savvier or portrayed himself that way. He also supposedly loved rap/hip hop. All of the conference rooms in our Silicon Valley headquarters were named after rap/hip hop stars. Ben was as hip and happening as a balding marketing guy who was 35ish is.

Neither Ben nor Marc talked politics much amongst us staff. What little they did was libertarian/Liberal on social issues.

I can see either or both going the Peter Thiel/Elon Musk route of “I’m rich because I’m better than you AND because I’m rich I’m better than you. I should help run everything.”

How Loudcloud was run should dissuade anyone of any idea that Andreesen or Horowitz is a business genius.
 
I think Musk vs Bannon should be the main event at the next wrestle mania. Put them in the ring. Give each one a mace and let them have at it. Match is not over until one is dead. Winner gets to be the power behind the throne.
