Tryin to talk myself out of watching after the monumental choke jobs in mens basketball and womens soccer last time.
 
Regardless of tonight's outcome, yet another legendary dook coach announced their retirement before the season began and ended up losing to the Heels in the Final Four. Despite the debacle of our football coaching search and the real time deterioration of our basketball program, we have reasons to rejoice this season.

pretty unreal result for this program and nahas in his first season as HC.

we had 5 players picked in the first 19 picks of the 2024 NWSL draft and we lost a slew of transfers.

excellent stuff.

Yep. I always say this was the most egregious example of a stolen national championship that you'll ever see. That game was over...done...finito... if the referee calls the obvious foul against UCLA for routing Emmie Allen into the goal on the game-tying Olympico. Believe it or not, that same referee called the Wake/Stanford semifinal three days ago. Ridiculous. I was worried that we might get her again tonight but dodged that bullet. Anyway, it was certainly a much more enjoyable walk back to the car tonight than it was two years ago 🙌

It's wild. We had one returning starter from last season in Elgin. That's it. I had super low expectations coming into this season. Never could have imagined we'd make the College Cup, much less win the natty. Really incredible.

the no-call in the UCLA match was indeed horrific and cost us a national championship. unbelievably poor stuff.

the referee we had tonight, chesky, has an awful reputation......she's a wsoc folk legend....in a bad way.

pretty universally hated by USWNT fans and many NWSL fans and has a lot of legendarily bad calls / non-calls on her resume. she unforgettably incorrectly disallowed a christen press golazo against mexico a few years ago.
