Dolan strikes again. Clear downgrade, which was always the most likely outcome. What an idiot.
 
Just reading the tea leaves but it seems like the Hornets might be working on a trade for Melo. Any guesses on what they could get? He's certainly an asset, but I would be very happy if they could get a good return for him.

I like Brown, and clearly he can be effective in the right situations. But he just lost a very polite locker room in a very polite environment in Sacramento.

If you’re looking for someone to get you over the hump in NYC, he ain’t the guy. I just don’t see him fitting well with this roster in this city. He’ll be gone in 2-3 years tops.

But I will say I didn’t love the apparent options. Maybe Malone. I would’ve even liked Van Gundy over Brown. I didn’t like Kidd as a fit. There was no clear best option to me. A lot of B/C grade choices.

I can’t figure his worth. He’s a joy to watch when flowing, but his efficiency is yikes and he’s oft injured. Is he Herro level? Maxey? I don’t think so, as an asset, but Bane also just went for a king’s ransom. Lamelo is a curious player.

ETA:
I asked chatGPT a reasonable return for Melo and one option was straight up for Brandon Ingram. The reasoning was Melo’s fit with Zion. When I mentioned Brandon Ingram was traded to the Raptors, a while ago, it briefly spazzed and shot out a rebuttal about how I was mistaken, then erased the rebuttal, corrected itself, and blamed the mistake on an update.
