They don't give the schools enough money as it is. How are they going to afford actual books for everyone when the Chromebooks are cheaper to use?

Jesus Effing Christ. Do these clowns have any idea of how many schools use chromebooks in classrooms now? It would be extremely difficult, to put it mildly, to revert back to using textbooks, and of course there's no way that they'll pay for schools to get new textbooks anyway. It's completely asinine and would likely cause chaos in teaching. We're living in 2025, not 1985 or 1965. Unless you're a GOP member of our state legislature, I suppose.

Guess they are just talking about the phones and any personal devices the students might bring. I am all for phones not being used during class. I guess I don't understand why the teachers can't just tell the kids phones aren't allowed out in class, and if they break the rule there will be consequences just like any other rule that's broken.

I know being on the phone all the time is a big problem. I actually think it's just a way for people to escape the real world and the reality that's around them, and I really can't blame kids for not wanting to deal with the real world these days.

Some schools that don't have universal chromebooks allow students to use cellphones for classwork, such as math classes. Not everybody has a personal laptop or chromebook, and not all school districts have chromebooks for every student. No doubt cellphone usage is a problem, but to tell teachers that kids simply can't use them at all is likely to cause problems. And where in the article does it mention just personal laptops? The wording seems pretty vague to me, and is likely to cause confusion unless it is clarified.
