I found his instagram. Definitely not a MAGA. Had a BLM support post in 2020 and a link for NCSU to provide free tampons in his profile. My guess is politics have nothing to do with the shootings.

It's possible that there's an onset of mental illness -- a change in grooming is often a sign of something like schizophrenia. Still, I think it's more likely not mental illness.
Well those are the things that make me wonder about mental illness. When people's behaviors or self-care/grooming are not typical for them, usually something else is going on.
I would suggest the best thing to say is nothing. She should have politely declined the interview request from the reporter.
