KU fans are something else tonight. I've never seen my own fan base openly so happy to be done with a team. The fans absolutely hated Hunter Dickinson (and others.) Most think Bill Self is done and will stick around for one more year because we have one of the best players in decades coming in in Daryn Peterson but then Self will retire likely.

Just an odd scene all around.

In the late ‘80’s/early ‘90’s, a significant percentage of Carolina fans wondered LOUDLY that the game had “passed Dean Smith by.”

Lots of stupid “fans” in the world.

Oh yeah. 1990 in particular was a tough time. Then Dean locked up a monster recruiting class and people quieted down a little.

But predictable. Fans get spoiled and then feel aggrieved when the ridiculously high standard isn’t met. Instead of appreciating the uniqueness of that level of success they bemoan the reality that it’s not possible to sustain it uninterrupted forever.

We were actually 19-12 that year prior to heading into the NCAAT.

(Edited to reflect we were 19-12 rather than 19-13.)

Not the J-hawker in my building whose office has probably more kansas shit decorating his office and desk than any living human outside former players/coaches etc...needs to have. Dude ALWAYS is coming by and talking shit, which, to be fair, I return in similar fashion and is ALWAYS in the building but today is "teleworking" lololol

I've often cringed at the thought of what would have been posted about Coach Smith if there had been the internet and message boards back in the mid-to-late 80s. IC's free basketball board would have been a war zone, and yes there would have been frequent posts that the game had passed Smith by, that he had lost his touch, panicked posts that he was falling behind K and Bobby Cremins, and so on. All of which was ridiculous, of course.
