Should I put this here or on The White Lotus thread? Here I think…

[WHITE LOTUS DUKE IMAGE]
I’ve seen this a lot since that loss (and I previously posted in the White Lotus thread about the University objecting to the portrayal of this guy and his suicidal behavior using Duke branding), but my request to posters here is to consider the negative impact of this kind of image on people suffering from depression.

It is not always the case (see a recent NIH Study about the Werther Effect here - Towards the Influence of Media on Suicidality: A Systematic Review of Netflix’s ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’ - PMC ), but there is a strong enough correlation to urge caution, even when intending dark humor.

Some thoughtful posts on Devil'sDen:

I’m sorry but of all the fuckd up officiating that was bull *****

***** off! Nobody likes you here. Everybody who knows basketball knows how good of a coach Scheyer is and he will continue to get better. You can not like how he was chosen but the guy can coach and you need to back off your childish, non-sensical schtick

Imagine what this Duke team would have been if they had a coach that actually had experience and actually had good xs and Ks .
Cooper hasn’t hit that fadeaway turnaround jumper consistently - why would Scheyer draw that up ? lol

Dude kill your self or kill your family idk why you are even here . I hope you get cancer and your family gets aids and anyone that knows you gets raped. Seriously I hope you F U CK ING DiE

Man shut your dumb **** up - you don’t k low wtf you’re talking about .

I hope you die seriously in the worst way imaginable

Scheyer & Co. totally $hit the bed. How the f did this happen. Losing to UNC in F4 was bad, but this is right up there. Bottom line, Houston wanted it more, I really thought we had the intestinal fortitude. I was wrong. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Ya hate to pick one guy out but Tyreese Proctor should be embarrassed the way he played tonight, he just didn't show up, he choked when it counted. Cooper was great very good, but games like this is where legends are born. He couldn't finish either.

Can you please die of cancer ?

9 foot 8 inch standing reach. Lol zero rebounds

Scheyer absolutely choked. Everyone in the country knew Proctor and Maulach WERE WALKING ZOMBIESSSSS AND HE DID NOTHING BUT SHORTEN THE BENCH.

Gillis WHO HASNT DONE JACK ***** ALL SEASON getting MAJOR mintues over Foster or Evans is pathetic. Foster was 10x tougher than Gillis…your lame **** Tech changed the entirety of the game

Leaving Proctor in WHO SHOOTS 50% FROM THE LINE was inexcusable. I guarantee Evans knocks those down. Hit the portal and never come back.

Can’t even design an inbound pass play…hey here’s an idea…GET SION OFF THE IN BOUNDS PASSB HE CANT HANDLE

Everyone knew Flagg would choke 0-4 in game winning situations and you just roll the ball out there like play ground Cal

Biggest choke in program history…one and dones will never win a championship. Absolute black eye on the program and everyone involved legacy. Nothing to be proud of for winning a mid major conference this season

I wonder if Scheyerface regrets running off Jeremy Roach after last year?

Proctor 0-4 3PA after lighting it up for the last month

But I sort of doubt it. Proctor and James were really good for them most of the season

It really took the #1 defense to make them struggle. In hindsight Idk if FLA or AUB's defense was good enough

This is one of several reasons I found super's comparison of Flagg to Kevin Durant to be a bit... generous. I'm thinking Flagg's NBA career is going to be somewhere b/w Durant's and Mike Dunleavy's. But closer to Dunleavy's. Not that there's anything wrong with that, Dunleavy had a very nice NBA career and earned himself $100 million (and given the current salary structure in the NBA, Flagg will probably earn 10 times that even if he has a similar career to Dunleavy). I do think Flagg will have a nice NBA career, I just don't see it being anything comparable to Durant's...

dook was among the best teams but the narrative that they were far ahead of the field was a false one.

They had the most talent as they often do but they were untested by a weak ACC. They may have looked a little better than they actually were.

I also think that as good as Flagg was he was also a bit overhyped.

Hate to say it but I think it's pretty obvious Duke wins that game ~97 out of 100 times. Shit happens, and it happened to Duke last night. They were a legit great team, but the best team doesn't always win in the tourny. Just ask UK. Hell, ask UNC. And I'm not saying Duke was head and shoulders better than any of the other FF squads, or even noticeably better, but they definitely had a damn good team this year...

There’s no chance dook beats Houston 97 out of 100 times. Zero.

The over the back call was the correct call. However, it really didn’t matter at all because Houston had gathered the rebound after Flagg had tipped it. So even if it was a no call, Houston would’ve had the ball and headed the other way on a bit of a fast break. And Flagg was gonna be out of position to defend that break.

That call isn’t really worth bringing up, but it’s all dookies have today.

I am glad to see the Duke fans crying today, as they tend to be an insufferable lot, but as I watched the game I saw multiple calls against Duke that I thought were highly questionable. I don't remember the specific calls....it was late....but I thought they definitely got screwed on some calls, but that doesn't account for their complete choke job at the end. They did that shit on their own.

But the most annoying part was all the time those refs spent reviewing calls that appeared rather clear cut to me. It seemed like every dead ball they were over at the scorers table watching the tape. It made the last 10 minutes of the game damn near unwatchable.

Watching the game in real time, I thought it was the right call, but after the replay I can understand the frustration. I think there were a handful of iffy calls (and no-calls) but they seemed to be evenly distributed.

As glad as I am that d00k lost last night, I find it difficult to mock them or laugh at their season.

Final Four……35-4……ACC Tourney and regular season champions.

Meanwhile, the Heels barely made the tournament and lost in the 1st round…..23-14 (13-7).
I'm as down on UNC basketball as many but this post is laughable. Any dook loss, especially in this kind of fashion, is worth celebrating.

Durant is such a bad comparison. And I’ve heard “generational talent” describing Flagg yet I don’t see generational talent on the floor. Is he a really good player at his age? Yes. But there is being really good and then there is being generational. Agree, he should have a nice NBA career and make some all-star games.
