NCAAT thread (It's ON!)

State’s going to get a hero’s welcome when they return to campus. Making the First Four is a big deal to them and much better than they usually do.

Are they? All the hype of year 1 WW and an expensive roster

Only to totally collapse in Feb & March and miss the round of 64 after a decent start to the season

Seeing some coping from ncst fans but the reactions seem mostly negative, as they should. That team flat out quit

The results overall aren't too different but how everything played out sort of is

I was making a joke about State’s overall NCAAT success (or lack thereof) over the past 35 years.

I was curious, so I went back to look at all the teams that are in the Pacific time zone that have an appeared in the Final Four since 2000. And even though Arizona is not in the Pacific time zone, I am going to include them as well since AZ borders CA. So here it is, starting with most recent:

2023 - San Diego State
2021 - Gonzaga, UCLA (this was the only Final Four ever that did not include a single team from east of the Mississippi River; Baylor and Houston were the two other teams)
2017 - Gonzaga, Oregon
2008 - UCLA
2007 - UCLA
2006 - UCLA
2001 - Arizona

So in the previous 25 Final Fours, that’s a total of 9 appearances in 7 different years by 5 different programs.
Arizona is only in Pacific time half the year.

Not loving our chances: Scheyer: "he's been progressing...very unlikely he plays tomorrow....he's itching to play...he's not there quite yet." "The comfort we want him to feel is not there. It is day to day. We'll do everything we can to get him ready for Saturday." (Pat N)

Fortunately they don’t need him to win the first round and probably could advance to the Sweet 16 if even one or two more starters couldn’t play.

They should be fine without Ngbonga for the first weekend.

I'd be more concerned about the Foster injury who is definitely out. Puts a lot of pressure on Cayden Boozer with no real depth behind him. Foul trouble or an injury could put them in a tight spot. That could be an issue later on in the tournament.

What does beating an 11 seed VCU with probably a payroll 10 times greater than them prove? Money well spent?

I figure most states fans are maga, so Will can just lie to then and say they are the real winners.
