Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night...

I finally got mail late yesterday evening.

In defense of the USPS, they will not deliver if access is hindered by unplowed streets, failure to clear access to the mailbox for street delivery and sidewalks and steps covered in ice and snow for door delivery. That was the rule when I lived in Cleveland as well. But there when the snow stops, people get out of their house and clear the snow from paved surfaces around their house.

God knows not many people in my neighborhood touched a goddam shovel over the past few days. I think it must be because the south is so religious. It seems people here believe the Lord put that snow there so he can take it away.

It seems like those god-fearing Southerners were right. Most of my snow is melted.

I do think it makes sense that the post office doesn't send somebody out and hazardous conditions to provide me junk mail that I'm going to throw away anyway. It can wait for me, although I know it's not the case for everybody.

My Informed Delivery for Saturday showed my freshly renewed NC driver license was in the Saturday mail which finally showed up last night after 6. Sometimes there are important things in the mail.

I have a really nice mailman and about twice a year he brings all my mail to the front door because I haven't checked it in months and the box is full.

I guess some people need snail mail but it seems like colossal waste of money to me.

Only stuff I've gotten recently via USPS that are important are stuff from the DMV like the annual sticker for my license plate. Occasionally, I will get an Amazon delivery via the USPS. I get annual property tax bills via USPS. But I try to do as much as I can on-line. I also get stuff via USPS that is documenting what I had done on-line, like home and auto insurance billing. If I predecease my wife, then she is really going to regret turning down my repeated offers to show her how I pay bills on-line and keep track of our accounts on-line. For my wife, if it's not printed on paper, then it's not real.

ETA: I haven't a paper check in over 10 years.

Never missed a day. Our mail service in Cary is phenomenal. They also deliver for Amazon and that stuff shows up quickly as well and even on Sundays.

It’s Charlotte.

How many of your neighbors are Southerners?
