Let’s Go, Monopolies! If only we can have a few more such acquisitions, perhaps I won’t need a dozen subscriptions to watch all the tv shows I’d like to see.
Yeah, the dream goal here is the Amazon Prime model of "That'll be $3.99" every single time you turn on your TV.Let’s Go, Monopolies!
Funny you should say that...I'm sure the Trump admin performed a thorough analysis of the costs, benefits, and how it will serve the public interest/good before providing final approval and allowing the deal to proceed![]()
Right, but not because of any concerns for the public interest or how it might affect the good of the country as a whole. Larry Ellison doesn't like it because it would limit his interests.Funny you should say that...
Trump administration views Netflix and Warner Bros. deal with ‘heavy skepticism,’ senior official says
The Amazon TV you purchased from Amazon, using your Amazon debit card linked to your Amazon bank account. At least your car manufacturer, home lender and energy provider will be Apple.Yeah, the dream goal here is the Amazon Prime model of "That'll be $3.99" every single time you turn on your TV.
Seems unlikely. Box office dollars are still widely coveted in Hollywood. One of the talking heads talked about how Netflix may now just not bother putting Warner Brother new movies in theaters.
Paramount is already bitchingThe Paramounts are tight with Trump.
Expect this deal to get blocked.
I read that they agreed to continue to do theatrical releases.Seems unlikely. Box office dollars are still widely coveted in Hollywood.
This is standard. They are setting the stage for a shareholder lawsuit attempting to block the transaction under the Revlon doctrine. But the Revlon doctrine is hollowed out to the point of emptiness, so this is mostly just noiseParamount is already bitching
Yep, just more corruption from this administration.Right, but not because of any concerns for the public interest or how it might affect the good of the country as a whole. Larry Ellison doesn't like it because it would limit his interests.
Netflix has been pretty open that they really covet Oscars, which is why they've given some of their in-house films short/limited theatrical releases in the past so they can be considered for Oscars. I would imagine they'd kick that into overdrive if/once this is approved.I read that they agreed to continue to do theatrical releases.
I'd be surprised, because it looks like we're gonna have Netflix, Disney, Apple, & Amazon all as content providers going forward and all are big enough to survive and thrive. So, in a few years are we going to be back to the old times of watching all channels through a single provider of channels (like it was with Comcast or Spectrum or Directv or...)?
Netflix is the only one I pay for. I have Prime Video because I have a Prime subscription. There are shows on Apple. HBO Max, Disney + and Paramount + I would like to watch, but I am too cheap to pay for them and raslly don't have the time to watch everything I would like already. If only we can have a few more such acquisitions, perhaps I won’t need a dozen subscriptions to watch all the tv shows I’d like to see.
Just wait for the Netflix-Disney-Apple-Amazon merger!I'd be surprised, because it looks like we're gonna have Netflix, Disney, Apple, & Amazon all as content providers going forward and all are big enough to survive and thrive.
