NHL Hockey (Yes, on the Politics Page)

This is where the political naivete of the athletes hurts them. There's a big difference between the fairly ordinary "trip to the White House" and being brought to the SOTU as a political prop for the President. They talk about it "not being political" while failing to see that they're being used in a blatantly political way. I'm not really surprised that many of the hockey players don't appreciate the difference, though.

Political naivete is definitely at play here for some of these guys. There are certainly some Trump supporters on the team, like the knuckle-dragging Tkachuk brothers, but others are largely apolitical or left leaning. In my opinion, Jack Hughes, the guy who got his teeth knocked out and later scored the game-winning goal, comes across as a young guy with a positive attitude who is enjoying a unique experience representing his country. Below is a video of him expressing support for the LGBTQ community. That doesn't seem very MAGA.
