This is a social media problem. A big one. Someone posts a description or synopsis of pics and videos, and it’s often inaccurate. It’s designed to get a specific response from the viewer. Rupar and others on the left do this as well.

I’m not on social media (although being here I wonder if I can make that claim considering how much is social media posts). Using Rupar as an example he describes something trump says in the video he’s posted. I don’t want to fucking listen to trump, but I know what has been described might not actually be what is said/shown in the video.

Anyway, I fucking hate social media.
I'm guessing the black population west of I-77 is maybe 6% ?

In the rural areas its much less… like Patb78 said. If the brown/black population is higher it’s because of Latinos working agriculture and chicken processing.
But Shelby, Statesville, Gastonia, Hickory, Morganton, etc. have African American pockets.

Freedom High doesn’t win multiple State Championships (Men’s and Ladies) in basketball otherwise. 🤓

Used to be fun to beat the Hell out of Freedom in football.

Booming Hispanic population in that area now

Morganton has a pretty significant Guatemalan population

So much so that the more affluent whites in Morganton decided they had to have a new high school and built Patton. Ruined both Freedom and East Burke (i went to East Burke)

Bingo! Winner winner chicken dinner!
I would have been part of the first graduating class at East Burke had my family not moved to another State in 1969.

Wow that's why Patton was built?

In the 90s East Burke was a large high school. Both were in the Northwestern 4A. Loved playing games at East Burke.... Amazing stadium. So is McDowell.

Side note, the Apple Hill Orchard, down the road from Patton, is fantastic

Morganton has the most Guatemalan folk on the planet… other than Guatemala. I know.
Many of these rural counties in the NC foothills and mountains have an increasing Latino population, and they're increasingly visible. Latinos are still a definite minority, but based on the 2020 Census figures it is going up. In Alleghany and Surry Counties Latinos are 12% of the population, in Wilkes it's 7%, in Yadkin it's 12%, in Burke it's 8%, and so on. In most of these counties Latinos now make up at least 5% of the population and in some counties they're now the largest minority, replacing blacks. I've suspected for awhile that one of the reasons many of these places have gone from solidly Republican to overwhelmingly (Trump) Republican is because of the steadily increasing and visible Latino population in these places - lots of local whites have taken notice of the rising percentage of Latinos and don't like it, hence the support in these places for Trump's nativist, xenophobic "get rid of immigrants" policies. Where Republicans once got about 55 to 65 percent of the vote in these counties, they now regularly get 75 to 80%.

I’m thinking a national strike is the only way to stop this madness
It worked in South Korea, if I recall. Whether it would work here is anybody's guess - it's hard to imagine that Trump wouldn't try to use the military and federal law-enforcement to crack down on such protests, and no doubt Hegseth and Noem and Patel would gladly do whatever he told them to.

And yet these racist pricks pile into the local Taqueria for good, cheap food and Margaritas and avail themselves in multiple other ways of the hard work and low cost labor and service contributions that enrich life in these otherwise depressed and depressing failing communities.
