I can only see her spin counter-clockwise if I first imagine the shadow of her legs going that direction, then keep the center of my gaze on the floor for awhile.
My husband immediately saw her going clockwise and had a hard time seeing the reverse. He is left handed, I am a rightie. Wonder if that has any impact?

she's spinning counterclockwise. Everyone who sees it different is a weirdo!

At least that's what I'm telling my left-handed fiancee who only sees her going clockwise!

I could only see clockwise spinning until I went to this reddit explanation (with lines), which helped me see both.

Couldn't see counter clockwise without this.

Now when I look at either side, thats what I see in the middle. Can't see the other until I watch it.

The trick is to swap out seeing the lifted leg as passing either he behind or in front of the center leg. That switches the direction.

“…Don’t worry; the effect won’t last forever! What you’re seeing is a negative afterimage. When we focus on the same stimulus for an extended period, our retinas stop reacting to the colors in the stimulus. When we then look at a blank surface, our retinas continue not reacting for a while - and as a result, we “see” the complementary colors: Black becomes white, red becomes green, and blue turns into yellow. …”

Schrodinger's dancer, her state depends on your seeing.
