Fucking hell Lubin. Handed the ball on a silver platter for two bunnies in the last two minutes and screwed up both.
I thought the same but the bounce pass was not a good one, despite looking good initially. It bounced off Lubin’s leg in stride. Should’ve been EC’s turnover. The other one was a blatant missed layup, just rushed it and didn’t concentrate.

But Cadeau is just not a high IQ player. At least once or twice a game he slams his body into someone on the ground diving after a ball and picks up obvious fouls. I guess he’s hustling? But usually it’s just out of frustration and not bright.

And his teammates are not going to magically learn how to handle his more ambitious passes. On leakouts or dump-offs in a too crowded lane. It’s on HIM to adjust, not them. They don’t have the capacity (i.e. the anticipation nor the hands) to adjust to him. So it’s just a lot of dumb avoidable turnovers.

Sooo ... anybody going to bail on watching the game this Saturday?
If I’m out and about and it’s on a TV somewhere I’ll watch for sure. If I end up staying at home on Saturday night, not sure if I can bring myself to sit down on the couch and immerse myself in it.

Played well enough to win for most of the game and same result

Horrible team passing. Pitt was getting their hands on everything. Too many bad decisions by Cadeau. Open layup and tried for the oop instead. Actually fouled on a play he was trying not to foul on. RJ played well mostly but a couple other really careless plays

32 mins of VAL is not great. They probably take that game with Jwash. Claude gave good minutes again

Been saying this for the past 4 years with Hubert's offense.

Reluctantly have to agree... I was using the stat of 80+ ppg average as my argument that the offense has been fine this season, and last. And we've played one of the toughest SOS for D1 (#15 toughest schedule of 362 teams), so averaging 82 ppg leads one to believe the offense is not the problem. And for the most part that would be correct. You don't score an average of 82ppg vs the #15 toughest SOS and have a "bad offense".

But here we are... scoring only 2 lousy points in the last 6.5 minutes of the game... getting outscored 14-2 down the stretch. We blew an 8 pt lead in the first half and a 7 pt lead in the 2nd. Too many costly turnovers... lack of offensive rebounding... not enough movement away from the ball... not enough screening for the screener... not enough ball movement... some pretty bad shooting %'s from folks who should be better (hello R.J.) and as a team (29% from 3 last night)... not getting to the FT line much at all... All of that = bad offense. And we've only been scoring in the 60's and low 70's for the entire month of January, excluding an overtime game. So the 80+ ppg average is a mirage. One I won't let cloud my eyes anymore this season.

All that said, the defense and lack of rebounding are still paramount in my mind, leading to most of the L's this season. The "Olé Defense" vs. BC (even though we won in OT) comes to mind... Lack of Defensive rebounding... Fouling too much early putting teams in the bonus, putting key players on the bench (Cadeau last night in the 2st half, for example)

Cadeau +6 last night but takes himself out of yet another game with needless fouls

Still hard to grasp that what we've seen is the only offensive gameplan for this roster. VAL having to play 32 mins while being involved in almost every action and scoring 6 points with 1 assist and 4 turnovers just emphasizes it even more

While I think the players haven't always executed to their abilities and make a lot of questionable decisions, they are not being put in positions to make anything easy in the half court. That has to be a huge level of frustration

It's been the only gameplan for every roster that Hubert has had. He hasn't made any adjustments based on the players he has.

It was at least somewhat defensible with Bacot on the roster and having a true 4 man. Playing this way with 4 guards/wings at all times with a backup caliber center isn't at all. Just imagine for a minute what Jay Wright would be doing with this same roster

I am hoping if Hubert is gone that Carolina can throw a bunch of money at Wright and get a GM for basketball like they have for football and that will sway him to come out of retirement.

While I am nearly certain Wright would not come anyway, I would much rather have a younger coach that would be around longer. Wright is 63.
