Where have you seen that he’s mentally ill? I mean, I think he was nuts, but that’s a lifestyle choice for many.
I think he was nuts too based on his belief that there was a child sex dungeon under a pizza parlor and his actions to expose it. I have no idea if he was officially diagnosed with mental illness.

KANNAPOLIS — Police released details Thursday morning on a Jan. 4 incident in which a police officer shot a suspect who reportedly pulled a gun on the officer. The suspect died two days later in the hospital. According to police, a Kannapolis officer was patrolling North Cannon Boulevard about 10 p.m. when he saw a gray 2001 GMC Yukon being driven by a person the officer knew had and outstanding arrest warrant. The officer stopped the car, and while talking with the driver, recognized that the passenger was also someone with an outstanding warrant. Two additional Kannapolis police officers arrived to help with the stop, and the original officer went around to the passenger side of the car and opened the door to arrest Edgar Maddison Welch of Salisbury. When the officer opened the door, Welch pulled a handgun from his jacket and pointed it in the direction of the officer. That officer and a second officer who was standing at the rear passenger side of the Yukon gave commands for Welch to drop the gun. When he refused, both officers fired their duty weapon at Welch, striking him. Medical assistance was immediately summoned for Welch, and he was transported to Atrium Health Cabarrus for care and treatment. He was later taken to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he died on Jan. 6.
I thought the reference was to the Pizzagate incident, for which he was given a 4 year prison sentence. He died om Jan 6 2025

I believe he was still in prison on Jan 6th, 2021 for the Pizzagate thing.
Yes, if this is the Pizzagate guy that drove from NC to Washington, he would have probably still been in jail.

I haven't read the article yet, I assume from the thread title it's the same guy.

He was released in 2020 but I haven't seen any links that he was at the January 6th riots.

Sad story. If this guy just could have kept his gun in his pants for another month, he undoubtedly would have been pardoned by St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago and maybe even received the Presidential Medal of FREEEDDDOOOMMM! (as it will undoubtedly be renamed) for his actions at Comet Pizza.

He reached inside his jacket, pulled a gun, pointed it at an officer and two officers, including the one being threatened with lethal force, gave him a chance to drop the gun before firing.

#White Privilege
Forgot to mention the other day that the guy who murdered a cop in Greensboro, led the police on a high speed chase, shot at officers during the chase and shot at officers after he crashed was also arrested unharmed. He was Black. Black privilege?

Be glad you didn't post this on the old ZZLP or you would be banned.
