Please Call Your Senators And Tell Them To Not Fund ICE (Vote is on the 30th)

What would be the harm to our country if we defund ICE and let CBP do its job at the border ?
ICE deports people who are already in the country but shouldn't be.

So, if CBP lets someone in, and they end up being a murdered, ICE kicks them back out.

Then why did we give them so much more money to do the job so poorly. We were deporting people at a regular rate with the system we had in place. Trump closed the borders. We know because we have his word on it. That means we'd have caught up on the backlog just as a matter of course. Why spend so much money and create so much chaos? Seems like you'd have to be stupid, malevolent or both,

Okay, don't defund them. Cut their budget by 50% and get rid of all new hires under 21 or who doesn't have LEO training or has a felony conviction, etc. and cull from the bottom until you've cut it back to prior levels. Then like the denazification after the war in Germany, de-ice these assholes.

Not funding ICE sounds like a terrible idea.
No, the “terrible idea” would be a U.S. president taking a government agency and remaking it as his own personal enforcement squad of thugs that are above the law.

ICE needs to be ripped out by the root, it’s leaders investigated, prison sentences handed down to anyone involved in brutality or murder, and all other currently employed members prohibited from working the government sector again, period. At this point, I have to question the sanity and morality of anyone who thinks different.

And the next Democrat that runs for POTUS needs to campaign on that. Vigorously.

You mean not to fund ICE after 2029?

The BBB provided ICE a supplementary allocation of 75 Billion (over and above its base budget) to be used over 4 years ending September 30, 2029. ICE has plenty of funds to continue its operation.

If the Senators vote to not fund the DHS they will be defunding everything that department runs but ICE. No FEMA , no Coast Guard, Cybersecurity, Secret Service (you'll like that) as well as TSA.

Do you agree we need ICE and it's a bad idea to completely defund ICE?

It's not going to happen, of course. This is just knee-jerk overreaction. The same emotional, irrational thinking that has people calling to defund police after something bad happens.

We need someone who fills that role. We sure don't need who and what we have either in the leadership or in the ranks. Then, when it's no longer a paramilitary outfit, which was a huge mistake from the start, we can properly assess need and discuss staffing and funding. So, roughly no and yes. We don't need this ICE but we do need to fund its replacement.

So, we need ICE but run better.

If we defund ICE and bring in a new program, with the same role, run by the same yahoos, will we close that down, also?

I'm thinking Special Project Immigration and Customs Enforcement or Limited Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

I can;t read the blocked poster, but if anybody is worried about ICE running out of money, don't be. Even if they don't pass this bill, ICE will still have access to the unaccountable $75 Billion they have from the BBB bill. So you are not actually calling your senator to ask them to "defund" ICE. You asking them to not thow good money after bad and reward them for thier bad behavior.

Defunding or eliminating ICE obviously isn't going to happen in the current environment, so let's take baby steps first and start by demilitarizing ICE. *Immigration and Customs Enforcement* does not need to have a budget that is more than the entire defense budget of many countries. And *Immigration and Customs Enforcement* does not need to be equipped with the kind of weaponry that we use on foreign battlefields (AR-15's, Kevlar vests, grenades, etc.). Anyone who believes otherwise is a feckless, bootlicking moron who is a total waste of the sacrifice that every single person who has ever laid down their life or limb to grant this country the freedom and liberty to not be ruled by a tyrannical government and its secret police force.

Tell us how you really feel.

Maybe I’m crazy but seems like DOGE got to claw back previously approved funding? Goose meet gander and pot meet kettle!
