I got tired of losing

I would wager that’s the story of many socialists over the last 40 years lol.

It also gets pretty tiring when, upon identifying yourself as a socialist, you are demanded to answer for the crimes of any authoritarian regime that has claimed the mantle of socialism or communism while simultaneously being asked to describe, in minute detail, how a socialist society would work.

So stop identifying as a socialist. Do you really believe the means of production and distribution should be government owned? Most liberals in the US are still capitalists, we just believe in more regulation, not capitulation.

Thanks for the help, but I’m quite confident that I know what my political philosophy is.

I’m aware that most liberals in the U.S. are capitalists, if not all. That’s why I identity as a socialist. I’m not a liberal.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that decades and decades of propaganda from the most powerful country to ever exist has made people think socialism is something that it isn’t.

Markets can exist within socialism. Some goods should be produced and sold under market conditions.

Some things, like medicine and power, should be produced by the government. A government that would be controlled by the interests of working people rather than the interests of private profiteers, monopolists, oligarchs, and other elites that have sought domination over the masses by different names.

This is more indicative of the overall point, though. Why would your first assumption be that the person identifying as a socialist must be mistaken about their own politics rather than your perception of what socialism is being wrong?
