The status of white South African farmers has long been a rallying cry on the right and far-right of American politics.
But despite numerous claims in the past of the systematic targeting of the country's white Afrikaner minority group, local crime statistics figures paint a different picture.
South Africa does not release crime figures based on race but the latest figures revealed that 6,953 people were murdered in the country between October and December 2024.
Of these, 12 were killed in farm attacks. Of the 12, one was a farmer, while five were farm dwellers and four were employees, who are likely to have been black.
In contrast, 961 women were murdered alongside 273 children.”

I'm doubtful that anyone at Perkins Coie is having any indigestion over this. It's obviously unconstitutional. Perkins can probably even collect attorneys' fees for the 15 minutes in court required to get this thing overturned.

President Trump plans to sign an executive order later today directing the Education Department to modify the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, which forgives a portion of federal student loan debt for people who work in public sector jobs, including at nonprofit organizations. Trump alleges that some of the qualifying nonprofit organizations may “engage in illegal, or what we would consider to be improper activities.”

Of course. I see it as so outrageous as to be comical and non-threatening. Trump could write an executive order requiring all Americans to give their first-born sons to Trump in tribute. It would be outrageous in one sense, and also mere comedy in another.

Summary: Republicans have decided to invest the funds set aside to pay the pensions of state employees in cryptocurrency.
I am not a state employee. But I am having a difficult time seeing this as anything but a move by Republicans to redirect the monies set aside to pay pensions into the pockets of right-wing billionaires. First, it is a nice thank you to those who put them in office. Second it is a huge "FU" to the suckers who spent their careers trying to make the administrative system of North Carolina work for and be a benefit to the residents of North Carolina. If that is not an enormous MAGA twofer, then I don't know what is.

Those firms are running the ETFs, collecting fees from the idiots who buy them. You'd think the state legislative leader would understand that, but he's a NC GOPer so there's plenty of simpler stuff he probably doesn't understand.
