He “invaded” Los Angeles by releasing a bunch of water upstate that never had a chance to get to LA and is now evaporating uselessly instead of being saved for farmers to use in the dry summer.

Well, it is true the Central Valley farmers don’t know what to do with the water flooding their fields in the wet season.

Jesus, he's reviving the Alien & Sedition Acts? Those laws were bitterly opposed even at the time, led to the Kentucky & Virginia Resolution attempts to "nulify" those acts in their states, and helped lead to John Adams being defeated by Thomas Jefferson in his 1800 reelection bid. Jefferson said that the acts were unconstitutional and let them expire as president, and issued pardons for those who had been convicted under them.

And now Dear Leader is bringing them back 225+ years later so he can arrest and deport more people he doesn't like. Swell.

“… A multistate lawsuit had accused the federal government of unlawfully firing tens of thousands of probationary employees and claimed the terminations occurred without transparency, placing excessive strain on state unemployment support systems and causing economic damage.

In response, an order by Judge James Bredar of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland—which expires March 27—requires that 18 federal agencies must offer jobs back to the probationary workers affected since Trump took office. They have until 1 p.m. Monday to rehire their terminated employees, The Washington Post reported.

Earlier on Thursday in California, federal Judge William H. Alsup ruled that laid off probationary hires at the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Agriculture, Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, and the Department of the Treasury must be rehired.

… since the end of January, Musk has lashed out at judges in more than 30 posts on X, calling them “corrupt,” “radical,” and “evil,” after they dealt DOGE legal blows. …”

“… The demands include banning masks that conceal identity, giving the university president rather than faculty disciplinary power over students, and empowering campus law enforcement to be able to arrest “agitators who foster an unsafe or hostile work or study environment.”

… The letter outlining the government’s demands, earlier reported by the Free Press, also asks the school to implement restrictions on protests to prevent disruption of teaching, research and campus life. It requests a plan to reform admissions “to conform with federal law and policy.”

Government negotiators want the school to place the department of Middle East, South Asian and African Studies under “academic receivership” for a minimum of five years. Receivership means it would no longer be under the control of the faculty and is considered a sign of mismanagement.

The letter also asks that the school discipline students.

On Thursday, before the letter had been delivered, the university judicial board announced that students involved in the occupation of an administration building last spring had been formally disciplined. The punishments include suspensions and expulsions. …”

“Ohio University suspended next month’s Black alumni reunion. The University of Massachusetts revoked admission offers to biomedical graduate students. And new hiring freezes are stalling universities nationwide, from Stanford to Cornell and Harvard.

After initial cosmetic steps like renaming DEI offices and scrubbing website language, schools now are making deeper, tangible changes in response to government spending cuts and President Trump’s campaign against elite universities. Schools are nixing events and rejecting previously accepted graduate students as federal funding hangs in the balance and anything perceived as “woke” becomes a no-go.

… The Justice Department recently said a task force will visit 10 universities, including Northwestern, Harvard and UCLA, to “bring the full force of the federal government to bear” on its bid to eradicate campus antisemitism. Meanwhile, the Education Department sent similar warning letters to 60 universities [including UNC]. …”
