The source of that 50% quote is legit. He's a Harvard faculty MD and PhD immunologist. I'd love to see where he came up with it though. That is really hard to believe with TB and smallpox out there.
Immune amnesia from measles decimates the ability to fight infections such as TB or smallpox. The article says measles infection are implicated in half of childhood.

“…
For years, it’s been used for severe measles cases in children in developing countries, where vitamin deficiencies are common. In those cases, studies have found it can reduce complications and the risk of death, though it’s not seen as a cure for the disease. It’s also been recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization in children hospitalized with measles.

“Virtually, all the studies have been done in resource-limited countries where it does seem to show a significant beneficial effect, and also in those countries, it’s been shown that children with lower levels of vitamin A tend to have more severe measles,” said Dr. Camille Sabella, director of pediatric infectious diseases at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, who added that he welcomed the CDC’s support of vitamin A. …”

Not vaccines. Vitamin A …

Trump team weighs pulling funding for Moderna's bird flu shot despite outbreak

The Trump administration confirmed it's reviewing whether to pull $590 million in funding that Moderna received in the final days of the Biden administration to develop an mRNA vaccine for bird flu in people.

The big picture: Moderna shares were trading down 5% Thursday morning on news of the review, part of a bigger examination of spending on messenger RNA-based vaccines based on the same technology used in COVID-19 shots, per Bloomberg.

  • The funds awarded in January from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority were aimed at creating a line of defense against H5N1 in people that matches the strains circulating in cows and birds.
What they're saying: "While it is crucial that the U.S. Department and Health and Human Services support pandemic preparedness, four years of the Biden administration's failed oversight have made it necessary to review agreements for vaccine production," an HHS spokesperson told Axios.”
As I expected - they're going to pull funding and research for vaccines and then blame it all on Biden somehow screwing it up. Also, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they're stupid and callous enough to start claiming that the bird flu is gone and start selling eggs and poultry from diseased birds just to try and bring the prices down. I have no problems seeing that as a higher priority than protecting people in this administration. You can just hear Dear Leader and RFK, Jr. at a press conference - "well, yeah, more people are getting sick and even dying from bird flu and tainted eggs and poultry, but look at how we got the prices of eggs down!"

I hope someone points this out to parents before they give it to their children.

Adding to the concern is that vitamin A is toxic at high levels. It’s a fat-soluble vitamin, so it’s stored in the body instead of released through urine. The more you take, the more it accumulates in organs like the liver.

“You actually can overdose and have toxicity for vitamin A,” Yonts said, adding that she would only use it in rare cases if she knows a patient is deficient or is severely ill and hospitalized. Pregnant women with measles who aren’t taking a multivitamin may also benefit from the vitamin.

The WHO, CDC and AAP all provide specific dosing recommendations for measles cases based on age and say it should only be g

‘Top Priority’: RFK Jr. Backtracks After Embarrassing Measles Misstep

“Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. backtracked two days after he dismissed the first American child’s death from measles in decades by saying that outbreaks were “not unusual.”

“Ending the measles outbreak is a top priority for me and my extraordinary team at HHS,” President Donald Trump’s health secretary wrote in an X post Friday afternoon.

Physicians have set off alarm bells about the outbreak that has affected 100 people in West Texas and New Mexico. The measles had been declared eliminated in America in 2000.

State officials said that the child who died in Texas was “school-aged” and unvaccinated. The last-known previous death from measles was in 2015, when an immunocompromised adult woman succumbed to the disease. Doctors didn’t realize she had it until after her death. Before that, it had been 12 years since a measles fatality. …”

nih.gov is down. I’m sure just a coincidence… right?
Often when this has happened to other government websites, DOGE is scrubbing “DEI” and LGBTQ references, links and data. But could be a coincidence…

PubMed does appear to be up, though I didn’t poke around or run any searches.

Apparently there is no proof that any measles parties have actually occurred, but the warning was in response to Facebook and other social media posts claiming to organize or recommend them (as an alternative to vaccination?) …

ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR.: Measles outbreak is call to action for all of us

MMR vaccine is crucial to avoiding potentially deadly disease

“…
It is also our responsibility to provide up-to-date guidance on available therapeutic medications. While there is no approved antiviral for those who may be infected, CDC has recently updated their recommendation supporting administration of vitamin A under the supervision of a physician for those with mild, moderate, and severe infection. Studies have found that vitamin A can dramatically reduce measles mortality.

Parents play a pivotal role in safeguarding their children’s health. All parents should consult with their healthcare providers to understand their options to get the MMR vaccine.

The decision to vaccinate is a personal one.

Vaccines not only protect individual children from measles, but also contribute to community immunity, protecting those who are unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons.…”

I have a hunch that we're going to see a great deal of backtracking in this administration, and especially in RFK, Jr's health agencies. And it's very likely that people are literally going to die during his watch for needless reasons.

Millions worldwide will needlessly die as a direct and knock-on effect of this admin. They’ll only backtrack in the high profile cases that impact the people they’ve conned - everyone else is fucked.

That an Andrew Wakefield follower is now promoting the MMR vaccine is only because this outbreak is occurring in a ruby red area, and has reach a level of spread to genuinely threaten a regional epidemic; that this is threatening Lubbock is a big deal. That’s bad optics, in an “oh shit, the proletariat is getting restless” manner. The 700 starving children fed daily by USAID, or the 20 MILLION receiving PEPFAR, or the tens of thousands receiving purified water in war torn regions, are currently in grave danger, and there’s reason to believe this admin views tens of millions of American in similarly, arguably more, disdainful ways.

Oh, no doubt, and people, perhaps a great many, are going to die or suffer permanent harm because of RFK, Jr. and the like. I'm just saying that there is also going to be some backtracking, as in this case. Appointing him to regulate our healthcare system is crazy, plain and simple.
