Raleighwood Circus aiming at The Southern Part of Heaven

Such useless and mean asshats. That is the modern Republican. My greatest shame on this planet is that I ever was a registered Republican. It is a sin I will seek repentance for the rest of my existence.

I'm guessing the GQPer state legislature attack on UNC has been successful and it's time now to attack Chapel Hill-Carrboro public schools ?

There's a deep hatred for Chapel Hill 'out there.' I grew up with it just a few miles away in #DeepChatham. The men that came into my Deddy's hardware store tended to be state college fans and hate Carolina for that as well as for being what they perceived as "Commie Hill," an idea solidifed by Herr Helms' daily editorials on WRAL. Dear Jesse's "University of Negroes and Communists" was loved too by some of the haters and in that they often didn't rightly know what to do about it.

I'd say that growing up rural and agricultural something like 55-60% of the folks around me pulled for state, 35-40% were Tar Heel Faithful, and the rest split between dook and wake. And man those wolpfackers hated Dean Smith and whoever was coaching football pretty fiercely -- add in those few that were college-goers, whether or not they were college finishers, who got that rejection letter from UNC, and you've got some strong sentiments. I miss those days.

Sometime after The Rat came to dook a lot of those old state college fans began to slowly but steadily switch over to the blew devils. Of course the dive into mediocrity that the folks in Raleighwood took after that last blast of luck in 1983 tended to make the fair weather ones look elsewhere anyway. Add in The Rat's penchant for having a few good white players and the racists among the former peckerwoods could even bury their Yankee-hating to pull for dook. I took note of the derm hats first. Growing up I only knew a couple of dook fans...the Methodist preachers usually backed them and there was one family, the Harrises over in Siler City. Nobody around there ever went to dook. With only about 15% instate enrollment that just wasn't going to happen in a place where only about 6-7% of the folks even finished college or university.

I think the goal of the GQP state legislature and BOG has been to bring down UNC to ncst level mediocrity.

When UNC has been a top 5 public university for years and one of the very few things that distinguishes NC from Alabama, Mississippi, and Loozianna why would you not want to promote and support UNC as one of the very few priceless gems in North Carolina ?

There's some animosity overall toward the whole idea of public education I'd venture.

Pubs care more about making sure everyone is a straight white Christian instead of kids getting a good education. They hate public education anyway. They would rather have private Christian schools for everyone and only for those that can afford it. They know the less educated people are the more likely they are to vote for Pubs because they are easily fooled into believing the boogeyman that is always a product of racism and bigotry.
