Reidsville NC private school doing gun giveaway for fundraiser

Is that even legal? Don't you need a background check before you can get a gun, or is this another loophole?

Dealers have to do a background check, but this would likely be considered a “private sale” which doesn’t require one.

My hunch is that the tickets state that you have to be over 18 and legally eligible to own a firearm to win, which would be the school’s way of trying to stay within applicable laws.
