Resting heart rate

I’m in the high 40s generally. When I put in a bunch of hours on the bike training for something it can go lower. Wearing a Garmin watch opened my eyes to the effect alcohol has. One beer will increase my resting HR 5-10 beats per minute and really disrupt my sleep. Was never a big drinker but have stopped keeping any in the house altogether after I saw that.
Interesting! That has been exactly my observation with respect to beer, higher stress at sleep and higher heart rate, especially as I have gotten older; I am 57.

Mine usually hovers around 70. I'm overweight and extremely active. Probably a good combination for a widow maker.

One of my golfing buddies used to weight 400 lbs, now he weighs 150 and runs ultra marathons. His RHR is usually 40-45, crazy to me.

Mine was 46 during my last EKG. I believe anything below 50 is bradycardia. I am on a very low dose beta blocker, metropolol 25mg (I think the maintenance dosage is 100+mg).

I think you are correct. I take 50 mg in the AM and another 50 in the PM.

No ablation?
Depends on what you mean by ablation. I think you mean ablation as a specific treatment for atrial fibulation, rather than the removal of my pericardium (pericardiectomy), which preceded my development of Afib. If so, then no ablation of my heart. There may have been some minor and incidental ablation of my heart during the pericardiectomy. But, again, this preceded my develoment of Afib.

My resting heart rate according to my Garmin watch is 58 over the last year. Of course it's it's lower when I'm riding my bike more consistently. I've also noted the same effects from alcohol. BTW, my max heart rate while riding my bike is high 170s. I'm in my early 60s, overweight, vegetarian, and my doctor hasn't recommended any medication yet.

58 bpm this AM while I eat breakfast. My heart rate has been 55-60 bpm since I first remember measuring it back in Junior High. I’ve been as low as 50 when I ran a lot more than I do now.

My rate has been around 55 for years.

My favorite personal heart story heart story from years ago :

I was getting my annual physical , and a nurse was taking my vitals prior to me seeing the MD. She took my pulse and said that something must be wrong.
Being concerned I immediately asked her what the problem was. She said that I had the pulse of an athlete. I was around 65yo and not buff :D

My response was, " So you don't think I'm an athlete ? "

OK. So how exaggerated was her eye roll?
