Retro arcade bars

Boxcar in Raleigh and another in Durham has been around for a decade.

I went one night. I thought it was going to be awesome. Can you imagine as a 7 year old whose parents gave him 50 cents at an arcade and now you can spend as much as you want? It was supposed to be amazing. My childhood dreams come true.

I was bored out of my mind. I left after an hour.

Barcade in NYC has been around at least 15 years and expanded to several other locations and states. Always busy. They seem to be doing fine.

Arcade on Graham Street (between West Franklin and West Rosemary) in Chapel Hill…..lots of games AND lots of space indoors and outdoors not dominated by games.

Last time I checked no Asteroids and no Missile Command. Lots of other good games. Could use more old-school pinball machines.

I’ve enjoyed the couple I’ve been to.

There’s supposed to be one opening in my fairly small hometown, but it’s been a year and not much has happened except a sign in a window.
