RIP Director Rob Reiner and his wife

Well I see the feelings police is out early. Lmao

I just repeated what someone who has lived it said. If you have lived it and want to disagree with someone who has then thats perfectly fine. America is full of dysfunctional families no doubt. Does Hollywood have a lower or higher amount? I don't know and don't care.
Feelings police? Really? And if you don't care then why say it?

Trump is really saying they were killed because they drove their son crazy being obsessed with him as if it was justified. Wow. He is such a narcissistic sociopath, and people still support this asshole.

That tweet strikes me as another example of Trump’s mental concerns. He is losing his ability to filter his worst and most self obsessed thoughts. I had a family member develop dementia who was a WWII vet. He had been a slightly crass and moody man but generally harmless and accepted in our family and in social circles. One of the early to mid point signs of dementia was him starting to use a slur to describe anyone of Asian appearance. He also started to think everyone was talking about him and started to make odd associations between himself and local news.

Also we cannot skip over the fact that Trump just justified the murder of two people on the basis that the deceased criticized Trump.

All of MAGA is flooding social media with messages like, “see how nice we are being in expressing condolences for Rob Reiner, in contrast to how mean the liberals were when Charlie Kirk was murdered?”
Apparently, how Trump acts doesn’t count.

The ironic thing about "being mean to Charlie" is that all people did was post what he actually said. I doubt anyone would protest if you posted the things that Rob Reiner said.

Yeah maybe. I think it’s just as likely he feels increasingly emboldened and untouchable enough to say out loud most of the disgusting things that go through his rotten mind, and always have. The only filter he has left is for self-preservation. He will say what he knows he can get away with.

His voters, and the elected officials and appointees are at least as much to blame for this corrosion. Everyone knew what they signed up for, they knew exactly who he was. His behavior isn’t nearly as surprising as the fact that soooo many have enabled it.

The sick thing is that even if we had a Joseph Welch, I don't see a statement like this having the same effect in modern society.
Welch responded with the immortal lines that ultimately ended McCarthy's career: "Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness." When McCarthy tried to continue his attack, Welch angrily interrupted, "Let us not assassinate this lad further, senator. You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?"
It's not even close to having the same effect. People in America say such things about the GOP routinely, accurately describing worse behavior. And it makes much less difference than it should.

The thing is, Welch's question has been answered -- not about McCarthy as much as about half the country. It's quite simply "no, we have so decency"

Admittedly I may have just not seen it or been exposed to it on my personal social media timelines, but I never really understood the furor about people on the left being happy about the Charlie Kirk murder. I definitely saw people saying that they weren’t sorry that Kirk’s platform for spreading hatefulness was ended, but that they were sorry for his wife and children and were disgusted that he was killed solely because of the views he expressed. Which is exactly how I felt – sad for his family, repulsed that a man was killed for expressing disagreeable views, but ultimately not sad that someone who made a livelihood out of stoking discord would no longer be able to do so.

Were there really instances of people actually expressing genuine happiness that Kirk was killed?

OK, Rand Paul said something this weekend I agree with -- partisan gerrymandering could lead to violence because it makes people feel as though they have no voice of power. Add to that his attitude about the Venezuela air strikes and this is way more Super-Paul agreement than I had ever predicted. I guess Stalin and FDR both opposed Hitler.

Now we add Massie to the list -- a guy who will always be famous for conducting one of the stupidest colloquies in modern Congressional history -- and now I'm in occasional agreement with TWO Kentuckians. And two who not along ago were among the worst.

We all know DT is a class A POS so why is this surprising? Maybe some of his supporters will see the light, but I highly doubt it. They always double down and will never admit what a POS they support.

I can't believe this is where America is. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is the voice of reason and concilation?
The wheel has turned to the point where, among the American right, only some of the most hardcore MAGAs (Massie, MTG, etc.) have the balls to criticize Trump. The purportedly "principled" conservatives have been utterly emasculated by the worst human in American history.

Thune? Collins? Murkowski? Fitzpatrick? Crickets.

Ramrouser? Pandemic Blue? Callatoroy? Wittols. All of them.

I definitely hear you and understand that perspective but I feel like we should never become numb to, or unsurprised by, the leader of the free world saying such vile things such as celebrating the murder of someone who did not agree with him politically.

In the interest of accuracy, would you use the term wittol?

The primary difference is awareness and tolerance: a cuckold is a man who is generally unaware of or deceived by his wife's infidelity, while a wittol is a man who is fully aware of and tolerates or even consents to his wife's extramarital affairs
