Oh wow. Cheers is one of my all-time favorite shows and Norm is one off my all-time favorite characters. Crazy to think he was only in his 30s in most of those Cheers episodes I watched.

There was one Thanksgiving episode where everyone got together to celebrate, including Norm's wife. By the time Norm's wife finally arrived, the Thanksgiving dinner had degraded into a food fight and the moment she walked through the door, she got a pie in the face and that was all we saw of her. IIRC, that was her only appearance in the series. In the lead-up to her appearance, I had convinced myself that she was going to be portrayed by some very famous actress in a one-time appearance. Apparently, neither Norm's wife nor I saw it coming.

ETA: Norm's wife, Vera, was played by Bernadette Birkett, who--in real life-- was married to the actor George Wendt.

Yes. But more aptly, George (RIP) was Jason's uncle, on his mother's side. Ted Lasso paid homage with subtle hints a few years back.
