It was always a sad spectacle to see him hawking his signature at sports memorabilia stores in Vegas. Probably saw him 3 times inside the Caesars forum shops

"Not a good person"? Seriously, please explain. Other than that "terrible sin" of gambling, how was he not a good person. I really don't know much about his character otherwise.
There’s a pretty good HBO doc that came out not long ago. Four episodes that take you through his whole life. Worth a watch if you’re curious.

You think?

I think it’ll take a major reconsideration of gambling by MLB and the HOF - including the 1919 White Sox - before that happens and I don’t see it happening that fast.
The HOF rule was put in place in 1991 to prevent Rose from getting in. So anyone from the 1919 White Sox could have gotten in anytime before 1991 and didn't. HOF needs to get rid of that rule and let the voters decide who gets in.

The official rule was put in place in 1991, but there was an unwritten rule all the way back to the founding of the HOF that players banned from the game weren't eligible for the HOF. That's the entire reason that Shoeless Joe Jackson was never inducted as he otherwise was certainly a good enough player to be in.

I'm not going to comment on his personal life. What I will say that NO ONE played the game harder that him, and I appreciated that as a kid growing up and appreciate it to this day. I've seen folks saying he only hit singles. Well, as a leadoff batter, he's supposed to get on base, and hitting a single is getting on base so the middle of the order can do their job to drive him home. I call that doing his job. One of my favorite players ever, and to this day still love the Reds and badly want them to turn things around with all of the young talent they have.

RIP.
